<strong>Automation</strong>-friendly <strong>CoolBox</strong> <strong>XT</strong> and double-capacity <strong>CoolBox</strong> 2<strong>XT</strong> <strong>Workstations</strong> are benchtop cooling stations<br />

that provide over 16 hours of ice-free cooling for your samples without electricity or batteries.<br />

<strong>CoolBox</strong> <strong>XT</strong> <strong>Automation</strong>-<strong>Friendly</strong> (AF) <strong>Workstations</strong> include the outer <strong>CoolBox</strong> <strong>XT</strong> housing, a proprietary<br />

dual-phase <strong>XT</strong> Cooling Core, and one or two CoolRack ® or CoolSink tube or plate module with SBS-footprint to<br />

fit laboratory automation devices.<br />

consistent sample cooling for<br />

reverse side.)<br />

All <strong>CoolBox</strong> <strong>XT</strong> workstations are highly adaptable and can accommodate a variety of automation-friendly<br />

CoolRack and CoolSink sample holders for microfuge tubes, cryovials, PCR plates and strips, u-bottom plates<br />

and flat bottom tissue culture plates. The portable workstations are an ideal solution when a brief transfer of<br />

temperature-sensitive samples to a robotic device is needed. The sturdy, thermo-conductive sample module will<br />

maintain your samples at a temperature below 10°C for approximately 20-30 minutes when removed from the<br />

<strong>CoolBox</strong> <strong>XT</strong>. Transfer the sample module back to the <strong>CoolBox</strong> <strong>XT</strong> workstation and samples will re-equilibrate to<br />

4°C in less than four minutes.<br />

When working with frozen samples, load the optional <strong>XT</strong> Freezing Core into the <strong>CoolBox</strong> <strong>XT</strong> (AF) Workstation<br />

and process or transport your frozen samples for over 8 hours. Or, place dry ice in the base and create a compact,<br />

ultra-cold (-78°C) snap-freezing station for bacteria, virus, proteins and more.


PERFORMANCE<br />

TruCool Over 16 hours cryogenic of ice-free, tubes - internal power-free threads cooling 1.5 mL tubes 5 mL tubes<br />

Two <strong>CoolBox</strong> <strong>XT</strong> Systems were loaded with<br />

<strong>XT</strong> Cooling Cores that had been stored at<br />

-20°C for twelve hours. Room temperature<br />

(RT) CoolRack <strong>XT</strong> M24 modules were<br />

placed on each cooling core until the temperature<br />

of each reached 2°C (approx. 8.5<br />

min.). Then, 24 TruCool 2ml microfuge<br />

tubes, each containing 1.5ml of RT water,<br />

were placed into each CoolRack module<br />

and the temperature of three of the tubes<br />

in each module at positions R1C1, R2C2,<br />

and R3C3 (where R indicates the row and C<br />

the column position) was monitored and<br />

recorded every 0.5 second using an Omega<br />

data logger. The data on the left was performed<br />

with the lid closed; the data on the<br />

right, with the lid open.<br />
