Ever wondered what <strong>County</strong> employees in other departments do In each issue, this regular column will feature<br />
each department and highlight the services that department provides. The goal is to learn about employees in<br />
other departments – or maybe more about your department! In this issue, we’ll include a basic overview <strong>of</strong> the<br />
<strong>County</strong>’s organizational structure.<br />
The <strong>County</strong> Executive is the chief administrative <strong>of</strong>ficer <strong>of</strong> the <strong>County</strong> and is responsible for the proper and<br />
efficient administration <strong>of</strong> the executive branch <strong>of</strong> <strong>County</strong> government. This position is elected on a partisan basis<br />
every four years. Currently, Buzz Westfall serves in this capacity.<br />
The <strong>County</strong> Council, a seven member body, holds all the legislative power in the county. The county is divided<br />
into seven council districts, with one member elected from each district on a partisan basis. Currently, the Council<br />
members are:<br />
1 st District – Charlie A. Dooley<br />
2 nd District – Vacant<br />
3 rd District – Skip Mange<br />
<strong>St</strong>. <strong>Louis</strong> <strong>County</strong> Voters<br />
<strong>County</strong> Executive<br />
4 th District – Michael E. O’Mara<br />

<strong>County</strong> Council Prosecuting Attorney<br />
6 th District – John Campisi<br />
7 th District – Gregory F. Quinn<br />
An election to fill the vacant 2 nd District position will be<br />
Administrative Director<br />
<strong>County</strong> Auditor<br />
held in the near future.<br />
The Administrative Director, currently Suzanne<br />
Richeda Pratl, coordinates all legislative activities and<br />
meetings <strong>of</strong> the Council. The <strong>County</strong> Auditor, currently<br />
Joy McClement Worn, ensures the county’s financial<br />
stability and integrity.<br />
The <strong>County</strong> Counselor’s Office serves as the county<br />
attorney and counselor at law to both the <strong>County</strong> Executive<br />
and the <strong>County</strong> Council and provides legal advice<br />
to all department heads and commissions. The<br />
<strong>County</strong> Counselor, currently Patricia Redington, is appointed<br />
by the <strong>County</strong> Executive.<br />
The Prosecuting Attorney’s Office is responsible for<br />
instituting and trying all criminal violations, include misdemeanors<br />
and traffic <strong>of</strong>fenses. The Prosecuting Attorney<br />
is elected on a partisan basis. Currently, Bob<br />
McCulloch serves in this capacity.<br />

The Board <strong>of</strong> Election Commissioners consists <strong>of</strong> four members appointed on a bi-partisan basis by the Missouri<br />
<strong>St</strong>ate Governor. The Commission maintains permanent voter registrations and conducts all federal, state,<br />
and local elections in <strong>St</strong>. <strong>Louis</strong> <strong>County</strong>.<br />
The remaining county departments provide direct services to <strong>County</strong> voters in a wide variety <strong>of</strong> areas. Watch<br />
future issues for more info on the Prosecuting Attorney’s Office, the <strong>County</strong> Counselor’s Office and the Board <strong>of</strong><br />
Election, as well as all the other departments.<br />
