VNA Alliance continued from page 4 is a community-based, non-profit, home health agency based in Cabot, PA, since 1997. Our team includes registered nurses; medical social workers, physical, speech, and occupational therapists, intravenous, and wound care nursing, and home health aides. Our mission is to serve the triune God by serving his people. MEADVILLE MEDICAL CENTER - Meadville Medical Center is a community hospital located in Meadville, PA. The hospital continually works to meet the community’s needs by maintaining up to date and state-of-the-art facilities. The hospital offers healthcare in northwestern Pennsylvania, with the newest technology, including the latest generation of ultrasound, CT and MRI technology. Our medical staff of over 100 consists of 37 medical/surgical specialties, with an extensive primary care foundation. With a service area covering 75,000 individuals in Crawford County as well as an additional 150,000 persons from northwestern Pennsylvania, the Medical Center has annual inpatient admissions of approximately 9,100 and over 139,000 outpatient visits. The Emergency Department alone reports 32,325 visits yearly and approximately 650 babies are born here each year. As such, the family will be notified when a room becomes available elsewhere in the facility. Previously, this move was usually exclusively to the Gardens, but now will be to any neighborhood including Willows, Gardens, Springs or Orchards. Of course, the possibility remains that residents on other units may see a progression of dementia and begin to exhibit behavioral or wandering challenges that necessitate a move to the Meadows. Managing residents with infections who have isolation protocols continue to be of significant challenge to us. Also, moves may be required for behavioral reasons and/or due to health and safety reasons such as elopement risks as noted above. Less frequently, roommate conflicts necessitate moves. We try very hard to minimize the need for resident moves; however, there are simply some times that they cannot be avoided. We appreciate the understanding of our residents, families and staff when such moves are necessary.
