your token tally. The more tokens you have the more prizes you can acquire.

From The Principal’s Office
END of TERM
We have all been working extremely hard this
term and are very deserving of a well-earned
break. There has been lots of excitement and
learning around the school; with the ‘Its Moments
Like This You Need Maths’ Day being a huge
success; Prep A students looked fabulous, dressed
up as ‘What they would like to be when they grow
up’; 1/2A held a Pyjama Day, where the focus was
on reading; Grades 4, 5 and 6 joined in the spirit
of the Olympic Games with their Potato Olympics,
during which the competitors gave their all in each
of the events; and the Tree Planting Day, which
will help to prompt a sustainable environment
within our school grounds.
Thank you very much too all staff members, for
your dedication and enthusiasm during Term 3. It
has been another fabulous term, filled with
exciting and engaging learning experiences for
everyone.
I would like to wish everyone a very enjoyable
and safe holiday break.
DISCO
Our annual disco, held last Friday night, was a
huge success with a noticeable increase in
attendance than previous years. The enthusiasm,
energy and dance moves in response to a
fabulous play list, were very impressive! It was
great to see students enjoying themselves as we
approach the end of a busy term.
A big thank you to Judi Collins for coordinating the
night and for arranging the DJ, Alex Kilner. Thank
you also to Julie Thomas and Raelene Fry for
helping on the night and to staff members Denise
Holm and Kasey Bayne for coming along.
2012 INTERNATIONAL COMPETITIONS and
ASSESSMENTS for SCHOOLS (ICAS)
ENGLISH
Congratulations to Alyssa Fritzlaff and Megan
Carlile, who recently received certificates from the
University New South Wales (UNSW), for their
participation in the ICAS. I commend these
students for accepting the challenge and for their
personal achievements. ICAS are developed for
students in Years 3 to 12 and are sat annually.
Each ICAS test is designed to assess students’
academic ability in aspects of Computer Skills,
English, Mathematics, Science, Spelling and
Writing. All students are welcome to participate.
Information regarding annual ICAS is published in
the school Newsletter, as it is available.
NAPLAN
Students in years 3 and 5 completing NAPLAN
at Drouin West, have received their results.
They have been sent home today. Please check
your child’s bag for a large envelope!
SCHOOL HATS
During Term 4 it will be time to protect our skin
and wear hats outside. All students are
required to have their own hat to wear. Due to
health and hygiene reasons we will not be
lending out hats at school from classrooms or
the office. Parents please ensure your child’s
hat is clearly named. Hats can be purchased
from the office.
SUNSCREEN
As the weather warms up during Term 4, it will
be important for students to remember sun
safety:
Slip, Slop, Slap!
Remember to put sunscreen on the tops of
your ears, back of your neck and nose.
Avoid being out in the sun between 10am-
4pm. Pop some sunscreen in your
school bag
If you are sweating lots, reapply sunscreen
every 2 hours.
Make sure you drink water regularly.
END of TERM – EARLY DISMISSAL
There will be NO assembly on Friday afternoon
this week. Students will be dismissed at
2.30pm.
ACTIVE AFTER SCHOOL ACTIVITIES
There are still some places left for the Active
After School Activities. Please put your name on
the list for the term 4 activities. There will be
Summer Sports for all age group, Dancing for
years Prep to 3 and Water Polo for years 4 to
6. More information is placed throughout this
newsletter.
Prep/1A wins the icy poles
Congratulations Prep/1A you saved $45.95 in 5
cent coins, which now means you are able to
have an icy pole each on a hot day in term 4.

Hello Everyone!
Chaplaincy News
We have nearly all made it to the end of a long, cold and quite wet term. Our family has noticed the nights being milder
and the days much longer. It’s nice for the children to have a lovely long play outside when they get home from school.
As the holidays approach I thought it might be good to remind us all of the many activities we can do to have fun together
and not cost too much. Here are just a few ideas to get you started.
Have picnics in the garden.
Go for walks.
Ride bikes.
Visit the local parks.
Visit the library.
Take a train ride to
Yarragon and have a nice
cuppa with mum and a play
in the park.
Invite friends over for
a play.
Do some cooking or baking together.
Have a back to front meal and wear back to front clothes
Have a talent night-plan for a show. Act out stories or make up
plays
Have your own master chef competition
Go swimming
Ask the children what they would like to do (No cost or low cost)

Congratulations to all the students and families

school. We had a total of 50,660 stickers. Lots
of goods for our school were selected to use the

Maths equipment,

and craft goods.

will arrive at the
