ORDER OF THE ARROW,<br />

BLUE OX LODGE #26<br />

GAMEHAVEN COUNCIL<br />

Congratulations on attaining your Ordeal Membership in the<br />

Order of the Arrow. More than 10 months have passed since<br />

you first took the obligation, and now is the time to finish sealing your membership<br />

in the Order. It is the purpose of the Ordeal to have the candidate reflect on his<br />

own Scout life and character and come to a deeper understanding of the Scout<br />

Oath and the principles of the Order.<br />

You are encouraged to attend one of the following opportunities to continue to help<br />

your unit and your lodge:<br />

May 13 th – 15 th , 2011 - Register with the Scout Office by April 29, 2011<br />

August 19 th – 21 nd , 2011 - Register with the Scout Office by August 5, 2011<br />

The <strong>Brotherhood</strong> process begins prior to your arrival for the weekend when you<br />

prepare a letter to the Lodge Secretary. When you prepare your letter, include what<br />

the obligation means to you, and how you have been fulfilling the obligation in both<br />

your unit and your daily life, how you have demonstrated your understanding of the<br />

traditions of the Ordeal, and how you look to help the lodge.<br />

Other requirements to fulfill the <strong>Brotherhood</strong> Honor are to memorize the signs of<br />

Arrow membership, Advance your understanding of the Ordeal, and Plan for service<br />

in the lodge. Details of the <strong>Brotherhood</strong> Challenges can be found in your handbook<br />

on page 50. These requirements will be demonstrated during your <strong>Brotherhood</strong><br />

class held during the weekend.<br />

Check-in for the weekend begins on Friday evening at 6:30 PM. Please eat dinner<br />

before coming. The weekend will finish about 11 AM on Sunday.<br />

Required Equipment List<br />

1. Your completed and signed BSA Health History Form (parent/guardian must sign for<br />

youth candidates).<br />

2. Any medications in a Ziploc bag – please write your name, the dosage and ailment on<br />

bag.<br />

3. Work clothes (These need to be clothes you do not mind being permanently stained, i.e.<br />

paint or dirt.)<br />

1. Rain Gear<br />

2. Ground Cloth<br />

3. Insect Repellent (non-aerosol)<br />

4. Sun Protection lotion<br />

5. Water Bottle<br />

6. Work Gloves<br />

7. Sleeping bag<br />

8. Clothes appropriate for the weather<br />

9. Tent with Ground cloth<br />

10. Complete Class A Uniform<br />

11. Personal grooming item<br />

12. Day Pack<br />

DO NOT BRING ELECTRONIC GAMES, RADIOS, TV, ETC…<br />

This weekend of <strong>Brotherhood</strong> will cost $30.00. Please fill out the form below and<br />

send it to the scout office by the date indicated. This $30.00 covers your<br />

<strong>Brotherhood</strong> sash and all your meals for the conclave. If you would like to<br />

purchase OA memorabilia, we will have a small trading post open periodically<br />

during the Conclave. Feel free to bring some money for the trading post.<br />
