Responsible for public, media and producer relations.<br />

Ensures public, industry stakeholders and producers are informed of industry initiatives and<br />

developments through media releases, the <strong>Ontario</strong> <strong>Pork</strong> website, industry brochures, extension<br />

activities, and information bulletins.<br />

Covers a wide range of issues, including animal care, environment, safety net programs, grant<br />

administration and research funding programs, food safety and agricultural education.<br />

Consumer Marketing:<br />

Includes advertising, promotion and education programs designed to maintain and grow pork’s<br />

popularity in the provincial and national marketplace.<br />

Provides technical support and information to processors, retailers, health professionals, food editors,<br />

reporters, restaurant operators and many other food service professionals.<br />

Industry and Member services<br />

Works closely with other provincial pork organizations, government and industry groups to develop<br />

programs that will benefit the pork industry provincially, nationally and internationally.<br />

Assists in the promotion and education of projects and services, and provides an essential link between<br />

<strong>Ontario</strong> <strong>Pork</strong> and its producers and stakeholders.<br />

Activities include administration of the Canadian Quality Assurance ® (CQA ® ), national traceability,<br />

swine identification program and <strong>Ontario</strong> <strong>Pork</strong> Grading Authority (OPGA).<br />

Maintains the provincial, regional and county representation system, and represents producers at the<br />

local, provincial and national levels on issues relating to hog production.<br />
