The most probable explanation to this phenomenon is the exodus of the adult male population to seek work opportunities outside municipal towns. The disparity is more than that of the national average of 49% male and 51% female. Since females form the greater portion of the economically active population age groups 15 to 64 years, it will be strategic for the municipality to increase their participation in local governance and decision making issues. A study of the age structure revealed that the bulk of the population, about 60%, are children in the school going age group (0 – 19 years). About 7% falls within the pension age group. Only 33% are in the working age group (20 – 64 years). This means that there is high dependency ratio as the 67% of the population depend on the 33% workforce in the area.
