The Baycrest Centre for Learning, Research and Innovation (‘LRI’) team has<br />

an opportunity for an<br />

INTERPROFESSIONAL EDUCATOR<br />

who will be responsible for coordinating, planning, implementing and evaluating<br />

<strong>interpr<strong>of</strong>essional</strong> clinical training and education activities. Reporting to the Manager,<br />

Baycrest Centre for Learning, Research and Innovation in Long-Term Care, the<br />

Interpr<strong>of</strong>essional Educators provide expertise in <strong>interpr<strong>of</strong>essional</strong> clinical training and<br />

education, and deliver educational programs to staff and trainees.<br />

Full Time Temporary (Approximately 3 years)<br />

RESPONSIBILITIES<br />

Clinical Education:<br />

Coordinating/delivering <strong>interpr<strong>of</strong>essional</strong> clinical education programs to staff and trainees;<br />

some travel required.<br />

Conducting training, assessing progress and reporting regularly to the Manager and Baycrest<br />

Executive sponsors.<br />

Working collaboratively with the Manager, Steering Committee members, and advisory board<br />

members in establishing a program framework for the Inter-provider Learning Unit (‘ILU’) and<br />

Core Course.<br />

Preparing and presenting the Centre’s educational initiatives to various stakeholders.<br />

Planning, implementing and evaluating educational strategies that support and promote the<br />

goals <strong>of</strong> the Centre for LRI.<br />

Engaging in scholarly activities, such as presentations and publications.<br />

Participating in guiding external visitors through the ILU.<br />

Participating in the coordination <strong>of</strong> a core course in long-term care/geriatrics, an annual Long-<br />

Term Care conference, a summer institute for trainees and intensive mentorships.<br />

Working collaboratively with the Manager and Steering Committee members in coordinating a<br />

teaching curriculum for the ILU and for external long-term care homes.<br />

Program Coordination<br />

Participating in the coordination <strong>of</strong> the research, evaluation and innovation components <strong>of</strong> the<br />

Centre for LRI.<br />

Participating and engaging the Centre for LRI Advisory Board and Baycrest Executive sponsors<br />

and keeping them informed <strong>of</strong> the educational program <strong>of</strong>ferings in the ILU<br />

Maintaining records and statistics related to skill training and certification.


Consulting with staff and trainees to assess their current and future <strong>interpr<strong>of</strong>essional</strong> learning<br />

needs while developing and coordinating sessions to meet these needs.<br />

Quality Management and Best Practice Integration<br />

Participating in the continuous improvement <strong>of</strong> services and operations.<br />

Promoting concepts <strong>of</strong> best practice guidelines through articulation <strong>of</strong> knowledge skills and<br />

attitudes required for health care providers within an <strong>interpr<strong>of</strong>essional</strong> practice environment<br />

and integrating research into practice to ensure best practice standards are maintained.<br />

Ensuring practices and processes are in accordance with legislative, regulatory and<br />

pr<strong>of</strong>essional standards/requirements.<br />

QUALIFICATIONS<br />

Master’s degree in a health care discipline.<br />

Registered and in good standing with their college or equivalent.<br />

Certificate in gerontology is an asset.<br />

Three (3) years related experience as an <strong>educator</strong>.<br />

Long Term Care experience.<br />

Experience working with regulated and unregulated care providers.<br />

Advanced clinical skills in gerontology.<br />

Knowledge <strong>of</strong> the quality and related reporting requirements under the Long-Term Care<br />

Homes Act, Local Health System Integration Act (i.e. the performance obligations and<br />

indicators needed to support Baycrest’s Hospital Service Accountability Agreement<br />

(‘HSAA’), the Excellent Care for All Act and other pertinent legislation and regulations.<br />

Excellent knowledge <strong>of</strong> curriculum design and program evaluation.<br />

Pr<strong>of</strong>iciency in the Micros<strong>of</strong>t Office s<strong>of</strong>tware, including Word, Excel, Outlook, Project and<br />

PowerPoint.<br />

Strong analytical and quantitative skills.<br />

Strong group facilitation and debriefing skills<br />

Effective stakeholder engagement, interpersonal skills and communication skills, and the<br />

ability to communicate effectively at all levels <strong>of</strong> the organization,<br />

Superior verbal, written, listening and presentation communication skills.<br />

Ability to influence and establish credibility with individuals at all levels <strong>of</strong> the organization,<br />

challenging the status quo and being a catalyst for positive change.<br />

Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills.<br />

Ability to direct and motivate team and others and to distill complex information into clear,<br />

concise messages.<br />

Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver training.<br />

Excellent organizational, planning and time management skills, and the ability to manage<br />

multiple, <strong>of</strong>ten competing priorities.<br />

Strong analytical, problem-solving, negotiation and conflict resolution skills.<br />
