Sweet win for Harveys
On 24 September
some thirty CAMRA
members who had
worked at the South
Downs Beer & Cider
Festival in June were
welcomed at Harveys
brewery to attend the presentation to Head
Brewer Miles Jenner of the certificate for Beer
of The Festival as voted by the customers. The
winner was a draught version of Sweet Sussex
Stout, which at 2.8% proved that a beer does
not have to be strong to be tasty.
In presenting the award organiser Pete
Coppard thanked all at the brewery for their
valuable support of the festival during his
seven year spell as organiser. In addition to this
certificate five others were handed over for
silver and bronze awards won at regional
Champion Beer of Britain Finals. Needless to
say Miles was the perfect host giving a short
tour and informative chat to those who had not
visited previously and a splendid variety of ales
were available for us to sample.

Langham does the double
On 27 August a contingent
from Western Sussex
CAMRA travelled the
short distance to Langham
Brewery, Lodsworth, near
Petworth to present two
certificates relating to the Yapton Beerex in
May: one for the Beer of the Festival, won by
the Langham spring seasonal ale, Flor-Ale, the
other for being the Brewery of the Festival.
Well done to all at Langham for this double
