“I was 30 years old and realized that I was unable to walk one block without getting out of breath. My family
and I joined the local YMCA and began utilizing some of the great programs. I was in such poor physical
condition with asthma and a painful hip that I knew I could not participate in a regular aerobics class. I began
attending a shallow water aqua class with one if my friends. I liked the YMCA because I felt comfortable there,
in a family atmosphere. I never imagined that 17 years later I would not only work at the YMCA but teach group
exercise classes like Aqua Boot Camp, Silver Sneakers, Senior Fit, Silver Dance and be a certified personal
trainer with a love for my job. I still participate in the various programs. The YMCA has changed the way I view
fitness…fitness can be fun!”
