From the President
Dear Ursuline Families,
School life is busy and exciting. For those of us who assist in providing a Catholic college prep
program it is most rewarding. We are fortunate in that we are given the opportunity to share in the lives
of the students and families we serve. It is a daily joy to be on campus. The young women of Ursuline are
impressive, and their enthusiasm is catching. I hope that you take the opportunity to join us this coming
year for some of our many events ranging from liturgy to productions, concerts, sporting events, and Buona
Festa. I would also like to remind you that we hold Memorial Masses three times a year for deceased loved
ones. Please contact us so that we can send you an invitation to the Mass and include the name of your
relative in our prayers.
The entire community this past year has focused on “Paying It Forward.” Many alumnae and
parents embraced the theme. With our motto “Serviam” the Academy has a rich tradition of “Paying It Forward.” Alumnae hold a wide
variety of service positions either full-time or as volunteers. Current students advocate for those in need by attitude and with action.
Our Mothers’ Club organizes monthly projects, and the DUDs (Dads of Ursuline Daughters) and Alumnae Association in various ways
follow suit.
Ursuline is a blessing. Without question our graduates are academically prepared for college. One hundred percent of our
graduates go on to college. Many receive scholarships. This past year the Academy awarded diplomas to a higher number of young
women than any of the other area all-girls schools.
Most importantly our graduates are strong women of faith who know and understand what it means to lead and serve others.
A statement of St. Angela that we frequently hear is, “You have more need to serve others than they have to be served.”
The Ursuline Tradition is carried out into the world through our graduates, their families and all with whom they come in
contact. A favorite song that we sing at our liturgies is “Go Light Your World.” Christ’s light is carried to others through our hands.
You will see the names of all the graduates of 2007 listed in this report. The Class of 2007 made contributions to help offset the cost
of tuition for a junior so that she could continue her senior year under less financial stress.
As you consider your financial giving plan this coming year, we ask that you embrace the vision of Ursuline Academy. We
need your help in retiring the debt on the Convocation and Athletic Center. We are in the initial stages of educational programming
for the Performing Arts Center. We ask for your help as we are eager to see our students benefit.
Our current challenge is to provide for our young women the type of facilities that so many boys’ schools enjoy. Unlike the
backing that area boys’ schools receive, Ursuline has yet to acquire a $1 million or $500,000 donor/benefactor. While these very large
donations help to jump start a funding drive, any and all donation amounts are important and valued, and bring possibility to reality.
This is our third fall in the Convocation and Athletic Center, a dream that became a reality. Thank you for all you do for
the Academy and for being a part of our Ursuline Family.
Embrace the vision,
Dr. Tina Reichardt
