4-day-<strong>meet<strong>in</strong>g</strong> was carried out as follows:<br />

Thursday, May 5 th , 2011<br />

All participants arrived and checked-<strong>in</strong> at Tilto Hotel.<br />

At 5:30 p.m. almost all participants met at <strong>the</strong> recepti<strong>on</strong> except Poland because of late arrival and had<br />

guided tour <strong>in</strong> <strong>Vilnius</strong>. At 7:30 p.m. all participants went toge<strong>the</strong>r to have a warm welcom<strong>in</strong>g d<strong>in</strong>ner <strong>in</strong><br />

restaurant “Čili kaimas”.<br />

Friday, May 6 th , 2011<br />

Participants came to <strong>the</strong> premises of <strong>Vilnius</strong> University.<br />

Open<strong>in</strong>g of <strong>the</strong> <strong>meet<strong>in</strong>g</strong>. The <strong>meet<strong>in</strong>g</strong> was held by Reda Grigutytė. Reda Grigutytė welcomed all<br />

participants to <strong>Vilnius</strong> University and shortly presented <strong>the</strong> programme of <strong>the</strong> <strong>meet<strong>in</strong>g</strong>. After technical<br />

details about <strong>the</strong> <strong>meet<strong>in</strong>g</strong> she asked Piotras Cimmperman, <strong>the</strong> President of <strong>Lithuania</strong>n Society of Young<br />

Researchers (LSYR), to present <strong>the</strong> associati<strong>on</strong> and its activity.<br />

Presentati<strong>on</strong> of LSYR. Piotras told to all participants that LSYR is a dynamic knowledge-based<br />

aut<strong>on</strong>omous n<strong>on</strong>-political and n<strong>on</strong>-profit nati<strong>on</strong>-wide organisati<strong>on</strong>, open to young researchers,<br />

scientists, and students from various science and research fields. The organisati<strong>on</strong> has been established<br />

<strong>in</strong> 2002 and officially registered <strong>in</strong> 2003. Currently, it has about 210 members from different research<br />

fields and <strong>in</strong>stituti<strong>on</strong>s all over <strong>Lithuania</strong>. The missi<strong>on</strong> of LSYR is to encourage young people to become<br />

world-class scientists by establish<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong>terdiscipl<strong>in</strong>ary scientific community, promot<strong>in</strong>g science and by<br />

facilitat<strong>in</strong>g improvements <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> system of science and educati<strong>on</strong>. S<strong>in</strong>ce its foundati<strong>on</strong>, LSYR participated<br />

<strong>in</strong> many <strong>project</strong>s and various activities like <strong>the</strong> follow<strong>in</strong>g: summer schools for pupils <strong>in</strong>terested <strong>in</strong><br />

research; c<strong>on</strong>tests “The best PhD <strong>the</strong>sis” and “The best master work”, also summer camp “Smithy of<br />

Ideas”, and o<strong>the</strong>r events. Participants of <strong>the</strong> <strong>meet<strong>in</strong>g</strong> asked representatives of LSYR how <strong>the</strong> best PhD<br />

<strong>the</strong>sis is elected and also <strong>the</strong>y wanted to know if LSYR organizes any courses for students <strong>on</strong> topic how to<br />

write scientific work. Piotras Cimmperman and Vilma Petrikaitė answered <strong>the</strong>se questi<strong>on</strong>s and <strong>the</strong>n Reda<br />

Grigutytė <strong>in</strong>vited L<strong>in</strong>a Baužienė to present “Simulati<strong>on</strong>s games”.<br />

Presentati<strong>on</strong> of “Simulati<strong>on</strong> games”. L<strong>in</strong>a Baužienė briefly expla<strong>in</strong>ed that simulati<strong>on</strong> is an<br />

imitati<strong>on</strong> of reality. The ma<strong>in</strong> requirement dur<strong>in</strong>g <strong>the</strong> game is to simulate a realistic situati<strong>on</strong> and<br />

envir<strong>on</strong>ment. Then she presented a simulati<strong>on</strong> game which was selected to be played dur<strong>in</strong>g this<br />

<strong>meet<strong>in</strong>g</strong>. The artificial country “DIGAMA” aims to become <strong>on</strong>e of <strong>the</strong> World's IT leaders. Government<br />

already <strong>in</strong>vested milli<strong>on</strong>s of Euros for IT technologies. Now <strong>the</strong> turn has come to educati<strong>on</strong> area. The<br />

government decided to establish e-University, e-Language school centre and e-Museum. As <strong>the</strong> global<br />

f<strong>in</strong>ancial crises have affected <strong>the</strong> countries’ funds, <strong>the</strong> Government has decided to f<strong>in</strong>ance <strong>on</strong>ly <strong>on</strong>e of<br />

<strong>the</strong> applied <strong>project</strong>s. Fur<strong>the</strong>rmore, <strong>the</strong> Government decided to let perform <strong>the</strong> three groups presented<br />

by <strong>in</strong>tellectual citizens to describe, defend and promote ideas for <strong>the</strong> government and society through<br />

social networks. Each group’s aim is to w<strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> fund<strong>in</strong>g for <strong>the</strong>ir idea.<br />

Play<strong>in</strong>g <strong>the</strong> simulati<strong>on</strong> game “DIGAMA”. L<strong>in</strong>a Baužienė has <strong>in</strong>vited each participant to take a<br />

positi<strong>on</strong> with<strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> announced areas: (1) 3 government members, (2) 2 journalists, (3) e-University<br />

group, (4) e-Language school centre group, (5) e-Museum group. Fifteen participants of <strong>the</strong> <strong>meet<strong>in</strong>g</strong><br />

2

started to play <strong>the</strong> game. Fur<strong>the</strong>r participants of <strong>the</strong> <strong>meet<strong>in</strong>g</strong> watched <strong>the</strong> game, hav<strong>in</strong>g documented<br />

<strong>in</strong>terest<strong>in</strong>g moments by taken photos and hav<strong>in</strong>g assisted <strong>the</strong> moderator dur<strong>in</strong>g <strong>the</strong> game.<br />

L<strong>in</strong>a Baužienė expla<strong>in</strong>ed that <strong>the</strong> functi<strong>on</strong> of <strong>the</strong> Government is to rule <strong>the</strong> game and/or to create new<br />

rules. The Government has a budget over 1 000 000 Euros for implement<strong>in</strong>g <strong>the</strong> best ideas, and f<strong>in</strong>ally, at<br />

<strong>the</strong> end of <strong>the</strong> game <strong>the</strong> Government has to decide <strong>on</strong> how to use <strong>the</strong> proposed fund<strong>in</strong>g. The<br />

government <strong>in</strong>formed each <strong>project</strong> groups about <strong>the</strong> requirements. Each <strong>project</strong> group had to prepare a<br />

short presentati<strong>on</strong> about <strong>the</strong>ir <strong>project</strong> and to present it <strong>in</strong> an attractive way, as <strong>the</strong> best idea will be<br />

funded.<br />

After about <strong>on</strong>e hour of preparati<strong>on</strong> and extensive discussi<strong>on</strong>s with<strong>in</strong> each <strong>project</strong> group, <strong>the</strong> <strong>in</strong>dividually<br />

chosen <strong>project</strong> leaders were ready to present <strong>the</strong>ir outcomes to <strong>the</strong> audience by defend<strong>in</strong>g <strong>the</strong>ir ideas as<br />

<strong>the</strong> best <strong>on</strong>es. The most c<strong>on</strong>v<strong>in</strong>c<strong>in</strong>g presentati<strong>on</strong> was c<strong>on</strong>sidered to be <strong>the</strong> e-Museum (<strong>project</strong> leader<br />

was Mehdi Mezouar).<br />

Then journalists of DIGAMA presented <strong>the</strong>ir press release. They founded all <strong>the</strong> <strong>project</strong>s to be realistic<br />

and valuable. It should not be any c<strong>on</strong>flict between all three <strong>project</strong>s, and it is possible to implement all<br />

of <strong>the</strong>m. Actually, <strong>the</strong> <strong>project</strong>s presented were very ambitious and spectacular. However, e-Museum was<br />

acknowledged to be <strong>the</strong> most extensive <strong>project</strong> as it also turned out very orig<strong>in</strong>al.<br />

The government was asked to evaluate <strong>the</strong> presentati<strong>on</strong>s (from 0 to 10 po<strong>in</strong>ts). E-University has got 5<br />

po<strong>in</strong>ts, e-Language school centre – 7 po<strong>in</strong>ts, and e-Museum – 10 po<strong>in</strong>ts.<br />

After evaluati<strong>on</strong> of <strong>the</strong> <strong>project</strong>s at about 1:00 p.m. all participant have had <strong>the</strong>ir lunch at <strong>the</strong> <strong>Vilnius</strong><br />

University café. From 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. <strong>the</strong> participants had a guided excursi<strong>on</strong> to learn about <strong>the</strong><br />

programmes and history of <strong>the</strong> <strong>Vilnius</strong> University. At 3:00 p.m. all people c<strong>on</strong>t<strong>in</strong>ued to play fur<strong>the</strong>r <strong>the</strong><br />

Simulati<strong>on</strong> game.<br />

Just<strong>in</strong>as Baužys, <strong>on</strong>e of <strong>the</strong> moderators of <strong>the</strong> game, suggested to debate <strong>on</strong> <strong>the</strong> idea which is supposed<br />

to be <strong>the</strong> best <strong>on</strong>e. He has asked both, <strong>the</strong> e-University and <strong>the</strong> e-Language school centre group<br />

members to fight for <strong>the</strong> success of <strong>the</strong>ir ideas. This has led <strong>the</strong>m to start discussi<strong>on</strong>s and to try to prove<br />

that <strong>the</strong>ir <strong>project</strong>s should be placed better which turned out quiet emoti<strong>on</strong>ally and <strong>in</strong>terest<strong>in</strong>gly. The E-<br />

Museum group was aga<strong>in</strong> very creative and has streng<strong>the</strong>n <strong>the</strong>ir first placement.<br />

The moderator asked to th<strong>in</strong>k <strong>on</strong> how to distribute <strong>in</strong>formati<strong>on</strong> about each <strong>project</strong> <strong>in</strong> social networks. All<br />

groups <strong>in</strong>clud<strong>in</strong>g government and journalists have bra<strong>in</strong>stormed <strong>on</strong> this issue.<br />

Then journalists announced so-called hot news about crash<strong>in</strong>g down all DIGAMA <strong>in</strong>fo systems as <strong>on</strong>e<br />

country has not any access to <strong>the</strong> Internet. All three <strong>project</strong> groups had to reth<strong>in</strong>k <strong>the</strong>ir proposals and try<br />

to f<strong>in</strong>d a way out from this situati<strong>on</strong>.<br />

Subsequently <strong>the</strong> moderator requested <strong>the</strong> Government to announce its decisi<strong>on</strong> about <strong>the</strong> <strong>project</strong><br />

fund<strong>in</strong>g. As a result <strong>the</strong> Government decided to c<strong>on</strong>tribute 50% of <strong>project</strong> funds to <strong>the</strong> e-Museum; 30% -<br />

to <strong>the</strong> e-Language school center and 20% - to <strong>the</strong> e-University.<br />

Outcomes from <strong>the</strong> game. Just<strong>in</strong>as Baužys expla<strong>in</strong>ed that <strong>the</strong> most important stages of <strong>the</strong> game<br />

is to get to know better <strong>the</strong> procedures <strong>on</strong> how to do and to make it more attractive and <strong>in</strong>terest<strong>in</strong>g for<br />

each player. Generally, <strong>the</strong> rules have to be created by <strong>the</strong> Government. The more tasks – <strong>the</strong> more<br />

creativity. It is f<strong>in</strong>e to c<strong>on</strong>sider about 7.5 m<strong>in</strong>utes for prepar<strong>in</strong>g very good game. A good Idea is always<br />

<strong>the</strong> best base for <strong>the</strong> success of <strong>the</strong> simulati<strong>on</strong>. Hav<strong>in</strong>g a great idea for game <strong>partners</strong> and <strong>the</strong> audience,<br />

<strong>the</strong> moderator will expla<strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> rules <strong>on</strong> how to play <strong>the</strong> game. The games’ progress is left open to <strong>the</strong><br />

players. The game requires a knowledged based balance with<strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> participat<strong>in</strong>g groups to achieve an<br />

outweighed outcome<br />

The Austrian representative po<strong>in</strong>ted out that this simulati<strong>on</strong> game is an attractive way for learn<strong>in</strong>g by<br />

do<strong>in</strong>g. This <strong>in</strong>novative Game helps to f<strong>in</strong>d soluti<strong>on</strong>s and can prevent mistakes. It was identified by all<br />

participants that <strong>the</strong> language barrier can have some <strong>in</strong>fluences <strong>on</strong> <strong>the</strong> game as it was sometimes<br />

difficult to express <strong>the</strong> own op<strong>in</strong>i<strong>on</strong> <strong>in</strong>to English.<br />

Then <strong>Lithuania</strong>n representatives have awarded <strong>the</strong> best players of <strong>the</strong> simulati<strong>on</strong> game.<br />

All participants were asked to share <strong>the</strong> experience from <strong>the</strong> game and to express <strong>the</strong>ir op<strong>in</strong>i<strong>on</strong> about it.<br />

The players were happy to have a good possibility to use English and to improve <strong>the</strong>ir communicati<strong>on</strong><br />

3

skills dur<strong>in</strong>g this game. They enjoyed <strong>the</strong> good atmosphere, became to know each o<strong>the</strong>r better,<br />

expanded <strong>the</strong>ir m<strong>in</strong>d about different situati<strong>on</strong>s and have learnt <strong>on</strong> how to c<strong>on</strong>v<strong>in</strong>ce o<strong>the</strong>r people <strong>in</strong><br />

every way. It was <strong>in</strong>terest<strong>in</strong>g, to simulate real situati<strong>on</strong>s and th<strong>in</strong>k about those hav<strong>in</strong>g <strong>the</strong> resp<strong>on</strong>sibility<br />

for such decisi<strong>on</strong>s.<br />

The simulati<strong>on</strong> game was recorded by cameraman as a part of <strong>the</strong> DVD producti<strong>on</strong> from <strong>the</strong> <strong>Lithuania</strong>n<br />

presentati<strong>on</strong>s.<br />

At 6.30 p.m. all <strong>meet<strong>in</strong>g</strong> <strong>partners</strong> went for a d<strong>in</strong>ner to restaurant “Belm<strong>on</strong>tas”.<br />

more about flag, shape, populati<strong>on</strong> and sports of <strong>Lithuania</strong>.<br />

Presentati<strong>on</strong> of <strong>the</strong> film from Italy. After <strong>the</strong> coffee break Italian representative Mehdi Mezouar<br />

presented <strong>the</strong> film from Italy. All <strong>meet<strong>in</strong>g</strong> <strong>partners</strong> liked it. Arleta Pławska asked to put <strong>the</strong> promoti<strong>on</strong>al<br />

<strong>in</strong>fo about Grundtvig <strong>project</strong> at <strong>the</strong> beg<strong>in</strong>n<strong>in</strong>g and <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> end of this film. Mehdi Mezouar agreed <strong>on</strong> it –<br />

he will try to put <strong>the</strong> logo but he isn’t sure if it is possible technically. However, <strong>the</strong> logo was already <strong>in</strong><br />

film but <strong>in</strong> different place. Mehdi Mezouar will send <strong>the</strong> f<strong>in</strong>al versi<strong>on</strong> of this film for comments later.<br />

Presentati<strong>on</strong> of <strong>the</strong> film from Austria. Austrian representative M<strong>on</strong>ika Brunner showed <strong>the</strong> film<br />

throughout <strong>the</strong> <strong>project</strong>. <strong>Lithuania</strong>n and Italian representatives still need to prepare/f<strong>in</strong>ish <strong>the</strong>ir films.<br />

Mehdi Mezouar will send <strong>the</strong> f<strong>in</strong>al versi<strong>on</strong> of <strong>the</strong> Italian film <strong>in</strong> 3 weeks. M<strong>on</strong>ika Brunner suggested to<br />

use programme “DropBox’ for better c<strong>on</strong>venience. Partners agreed to th<strong>in</strong>k about it. Spanish delegates<br />

will work <strong>on</strong> all needed material by <strong>the</strong> end of June – <strong>the</strong> beg<strong>in</strong>n<strong>in</strong>g of July, will send a copy with cover,<br />

etc. Reda Grigutytė will send <strong>Lithuania</strong>n film by <strong>the</strong> end of June.<br />

Arleta Plawska asked Juan Gil Saucedo to say his op<strong>in</strong>i<strong>on</strong> <strong>on</strong> design of <strong>the</strong> cover of DVD. Juan th<strong>in</strong>ks it is<br />

good. Then all participants agreed that if will be enough space, all <strong>the</strong> logos will be put <strong>on</strong> DVD. One part<br />

of DVD will be for films from all <strong>partners</strong>; ano<strong>the</strong>r part – for various products: newsletters, factsheets<br />

about each <strong>in</strong>stituti<strong>on</strong>, press releases, reports, flyer (<strong>in</strong>troducti<strong>on</strong> to simulati<strong>on</strong> games). M<strong>on</strong>ika Brunner<br />

Participants talked about factsheets: Arleta Plawska already has <strong>the</strong> f<strong>in</strong>al factsheets from Poland, Spa<strong>in</strong>,<br />

Italy and Austria. She expla<strong>in</strong>ed to o<strong>the</strong>rs that factsheet is a document with <strong>in</strong>fo about <strong>in</strong>stituti<strong>on</strong>s from<br />

this <strong>project</strong>. Italy will add logo and <strong>the</strong> EU promoti<strong>on</strong>al text <strong>on</strong> <strong>the</strong> factsheet.<br />

Newsletter should be prepared about <strong>on</strong>e m<strong>on</strong>th before each <strong>meet<strong>in</strong>g</strong>. Arleta has newsletters from<br />

Italy, Austria, Poland, Spa<strong>in</strong> and <strong>Lithuania</strong>. From Italy we have two versi<strong>on</strong>s. The first newsletter will<br />

rema<strong>in</strong>. The sec<strong>on</strong>d versi<strong>on</strong> is more likely to be used as a press release it was prepared by <strong>the</strong> Italian<br />

partner Mehdi Mezouar.<br />

The Polish coord<strong>in</strong>ator Arleta Plawska has made an <strong>in</strong>troducti<strong>on</strong> to <strong>the</strong> requirements of <strong>the</strong> f<strong>in</strong>al report<br />

as this is also <strong>the</strong> f<strong>in</strong>al <strong>meet<strong>in</strong>g</strong> of <strong>the</strong> C&I <strong>project</strong>. The report is divided <strong>in</strong>to a comm<strong>on</strong> part and <strong>the</strong><br />

nati<strong>on</strong>al part. The comm<strong>on</strong> part requires <strong>the</strong> acceptance of all <strong>partners</strong> and also <strong>in</strong>cludes activities<br />

undertaken <strong>in</strong> terms of nati<strong>on</strong>al priorities. The nati<strong>on</strong>al part will be prepared by each partner separately<br />

Arleta Plawska showed <strong>the</strong> pr<strong>in</strong>ted versi<strong>on</strong> of a former report from her nati<strong>on</strong>al agency. The current<br />

versi<strong>on</strong>s will be sent by each Nati<strong>on</strong>al Agency to <strong>the</strong> <strong>partners</strong>. Fur<strong>the</strong>rmore Arleta Plawska po<strong>in</strong>ted out<br />

that part E is about <strong>partners</strong>hip participati<strong>on</strong> and activities as a whole. Arleta Plawska proposed that she<br />

will prepare <strong>the</strong> comm<strong>on</strong> part and this part E <strong>in</strong> English for fur<strong>the</strong>r c<strong>on</strong>sultati<strong>on</strong> with <strong>the</strong> <strong>partners</strong>. All<br />

<strong>partners</strong> will c<strong>on</strong>tribute and translate <strong>in</strong>to <strong>the</strong>ir nati<strong>on</strong>al languages for those required. O<strong>the</strong>r parts will<br />

have to be prepared by each partner separately. M<strong>on</strong>ika Brunner said that Austria has this form <strong>in</strong><br />

English. Italian delegates noticed <strong>the</strong> same.<br />

Evaluati<strong>on</strong> and clos<strong>in</strong>g of <strong>the</strong> <strong>meet<strong>in</strong>g</strong>. Reda Grigutytė distributed evaluati<strong>on</strong> forms to be filled <strong>in</strong><br />
