Borders are pressed toward the border. Seam allowance is 1/4˝
Begin with the panel cut to 23 ½˝ x 40 ½˝. If you find your panel
is too small, cut the green inner border wider to compensate.
green sTArs Border (FIrsT Border)
Sew 1 ½˝ x 40 ½˝ green stars border strips to each side of the
panel.
Add 3˝ x 25 ½˝ top and bottom green stars border strips. At this
point, your quilt should measure 25 ½˝ x 45 ½˝. If you had to cut
the border strips wider, trim to this measurement.
nAvy sTArs Border (seCond Border)
Add 2˝ x 45 ½˝ navy stars border strips to each side of the quilt.
Add 2˝ x 28 ½˝ strips to the top and bottom.
Corner AppLIqué BLoCks For ThIrd Border
Transfer the star, sun wedge and sun center circle templates onto
template plastic. If you prefer to turn under the edges of your
appliqué, add a seam allowance to the shapes. Trace two stars, two
sun centers and 16 wedges onto the paper side of fusible webbing.
(Follow manufacturer’s instructions.) Cut out around shapes,
leaving at least 1/8˝ outside the lines. Fuse the stars to the wrong
side of the pale yellow stars fabric. Fuse the sun wedges and sun
centers to the wrong side of the pale yellow character print. Cut
out appliqué pieces on the lines.
Finger press the four 7˝ navy stars squares in half twice to find
the center. Arrange appliqué shapes on the navy stars squares
and fuse. Make two sun blocks (each with eight wedges and one
center) and two star blocks. Stitch around shapes with a zig zag or
stitch of your choice. Trim the blocks to 6 ½˝.
After completing the quilt, you may add yoyos and/or buttons to
embellish the stars & sun.
ThIrd Border
Transfer templates A, B, C onto template plastic. A seam allowance
is included on the templates.
Cut (38) B and (38) C half triangle pieces from pale yellow flower
print.
Cut (38) A triangle pieces from the assorted fat quarter prints.

With right sides together, align half triangle B to triangle A. Stitch,
using a ¼˝ seam allowance. Add half triangle C to complete the
block.
Make 38 blocks. (4 ½˝ unfinished)
Join 12 blocks together in a row. Make 2. Sew a 2 ½˝ x 48 ½˝ teal
characters strip to each row adjacent to the B & C pale yellow
flowers. Sew strips to each side of the quilt with the A triangles
adjacent to the navy stars border. (Please refer to picture of the
quilt for fabric placement.)
Make two more border strips with 7 blocks in each row. Add a
2 ½˝ x 28 ½˝ teal characters strip to these rows as before. Now,
stitch a 6 ½˝ sun and a 6 ½˝ star block to each end of these strips.
Sew to the top and bottom of the quilt.
ouTer Border
Sew 4 ½˝ x 60 ½˝ rust flowers borders to each side of the quilt.
Sew 4 ½˝ x 48 ½˝ rust flowers borders to the top and bottom.
Layer, quilt and bind! Embellish stars & suns with yoyos and
buttons, if desired.
