Stephanie (Szymanski) (’02) Hanson
and her husband Matt welcomed
their first child, Brooklyn Paige, on
May 17, 2012. The family resides
in Houston, Texas.
April (Keihl) (’02) and Ryan Bruss
were married at Calvary Lutheran
Church in Thiensville on September
22, 2012. April is the daughter of
Mark (’70) and Donna (Schnabl) (’79)
Keihl and sister of Aaron Keihl (’05).
April is a surgical technician at Aurora
Advanced Surgery Center and Ryan
is employed at Ideal Heating & Air
Conditioning. The couple resides
in Milwaukee.
Peter Schwichtenberg (’04) and
Stacey Paprocki were married at
Gethsemane Lutheran Church in
Milwaukee on August 10, 2012.
Pete teaches 3rd grade at Maple
Dale School in Fox Point and is
the assistant coach for the varsity
baseball team at Wauwatosa
East High School. Stacey is
an elementary art teacher at St.
Anthony’s School in Milwaukee. The
couple resides in Milwaukee.
Jennifer (Groth) (’04) and Steven
Koniar were married on October
19, 2013. Jennifer is a visual
merchandiser for American TV in
Madison and Steven is a 2nd Lt.
in the U.S. Air Force.
Jaime (Steinbrecher) (’05) and
Matthew Drewitz were united in
marriage on June 22, 2012, in
Libertyville, Illinois where Jamie
teaches 1st grade at St. John School.
Matthew has a master’s degree in
accounting. Alumni attending were
Jamie’s dad Mark Steinbrecher (’72)
and bridesmaid Nicole Schneider (’05).
Ryan Kolander (’06) received the
2012 Runner-Up Thalassa Award
from Martin Luther College for his
article entitled Confetti and Guns.
Ryan taught English in Leon,
Guanajuato, Mexico from June, 2010,
to July, 2011, as a way of building
bridges between the church and the
community to share the gospel.
Andrew Gerlach (’07) was awarded the
Brooks Scholarship at the Senior-Faculty
Banquet at Martin Luther College in New
Ulm, Minnesota.
Brent Krohn (’07) and Sarah (Metzger) (’00)
announced their marriage. Brent is a
member of the U.S. Army and the couple
reside in El Paso, Texas.
Katelyn (Reske) (’07) and Erik Labinski
were married at Grace Lutheran Church
in downtown Milwaukee on January 14,
2012. Katelyn’s sister, Diandrea Reske
(’06) was in the wedding party. Erik is a
physical therapist and Katelyn is attending
graduate school pursuing a master’s degree
in occupational therapy.
Rachael Hackbarth (’08) has been named
honorable mention on the 2012 women’s
basketball Associated Press All-American
team. She had a tremendous senior
season and was named the Jackie Stiles
Missouri Valley Conference Player of the
Year as well as being named first-team all
MVC and all-defensive team. She led the
conference in scoring with 18.9 points per
game and 11.8 rebounds. Rachael was
also selected to play on the USA All-Star
team that toured China, and was named
the 2012 Drake Female Athlete of the Year.
Sara Braun (’08) and Kevin Zeitler (’08)
were engaged on April 16, 2012. Kevin
plays professional football for the Cincinnati
Bengals of the National Football League.
They are planning a July, 2013 wedding.
Philip Berger (’12), a freshman at
UW-Madison, has been selected to the
UW-Madison Wind Ensemble and the
UW-Madison Orchestra as a clarinet player.
A significant achievement, as only three
clarinet players are chosen and the other
two players are graduate students pursuing
master’s degrees in clarinet. Berger
received a full music scholarship to
UW-Madison for clarinet.
Rachel Tesch (’12) has been named to the
NAC’s six-member All-Freshman Volleyball
Team at Edgewood College. Rachel
averaged 2.01 digs per set despite playing
on the back row rotations. She is ranked
fifth on the team with 19 service aces and
was one of two defensive specialists named
to the team.
