STUDENT HEALTH & WELL-BEING PROGRAMS
Powerful Isha programs offered to manage academic stress
Based on the positive feedback we received from students and teachers after undergoing our
yoga and meditation sessions in the first year, the programs were included in our quarterly
plan and carried out again in the second year. Yoga helps students increase their
concentration, memory-power, clarity, focus and endurance, and contributes to a healthier
lifestyle. Teachers report that after yoga programs, students seem calmer, quieter and more
attentive. Overall, the programs offer students and teachers powerful daily techniques to
cope with SSLC exam stress.
Student Programs
At the beginning of the year, all 10 th and 12 th Standard students underwent three-day Isha
Yoga programs in 12 adopted schools in Dharmapuri, 13 in Coimbatore and five in
Salem. In addition, we scheduled time for all 10 th Standard students to do their daily
practices during school hours, to help them as they prepare for public exams. The idea
was presented and approved by School Headmasters and the CEO, and will be
implemented in the next academic year. Other students in lower standards, who had the
availability, were also given the opportunity to undergo Isha Yoga and Isha Kriya
programs at the beginning of the year.
Teacher Programs
A total of 82 Isha teachers and 64 regular teachers from our three school districts
underwent one-day Yoga classes, learning various asanas and Isha Kriya – a powerful
yet simple meditation technique. These will equip them with daily practices that will help
them with stress management and overall well-being.
