Itema presents new rapier weaving machine at India ITME 2012.
Itema will exhibit the latest technical innovation of weaving machinery at India ITME in
Mumbai, 02 – 07 December. Known to provide the widest range of weaving machines,
accessories and services, Itema will debut their new rapier weaving machine R9500 for the
first time in India.
Just two months after the successful Open House held at its Italian headquarters, evidence of
Itema’s revitalized image and new product strategy will be on display at India ITME.
With a focused approach, Itema unified the resources of their revered brands Somet, Sultex &
Vamatex behind one single name and one single brand – “Itema”. With over 50 years of success,
Itema used their collaborative experience, to capture the best of its brands to develop the
milestone for the company and the reference for the weaving sector.
Following a successful market penetration, Itema believes the official launch of the R9500 in the
Indian Market represents clear confirmation of this new course with Itema being the focus of
participation at India Itme.
Exhibition Program
Rapier weaving machine R9500
Based on the same footprint and mechanical concept of the air jet weaving machine A9500, along
with the efficient use of comparable parts & solutions, the R9500 is a solid, robust machine,
capable of weaving the heaviest fabrics but flexible and precise enough to weave fine, fancy &
technical yarns with ease. With the same user interface, accessories and more than 90% of
electronics parts in common with the air-jet machine, customers utilizing both technologies will
realize significant cost reduction in both spare parts and ergonomic synergies.

Two models will be exhibited:
- Itema R9500 (190 cm / Staubli 3060): weaving high class shirting, equipped with the new SK
Guided Transfer System, demonstrating high performance and superior quality in the
demanding cotton field.
- Itema R9500 (360 cm / Bonas ZJ2, Bonas booth): for home textiles, exhibiting the maximum
flexibility of the new FPA, free flight transfer, to easily and reliably meet the most diverse needs.
Air jet weaving machine A9500
With this high speed, energy conscious performer of the most demanding styles, Itema defines a new
benchmark with dependable, high speed performance, consistent fabric quality and the versatility
to change with market expectations.
Three machines will be exhibited:
- Itema A9500 (190 cm / Staubli 1661): Air jet Machine for Denim
- Itema A9500 (190 cm / Staubli 1661): Air jet Machine for Shirting
- Itema A9500 (340 cm / Staubli 1661): Air jet Machine for Sheeting
Alpha PGA Rapier Weaving Machine
Thanks to the universal PGA gripper, the ALPHA PGA is the most flexible machine with regard to
inserting different weft materials and yarn counts (e.g. upholstery). This provides more flexibility,
higher efficiency and convenience for style changes. The Alpha PGA weaves an unlimited range
of fabrics and materials at a high production level.

R880 Rapier Weaving Machine
The evolution of the proven R880 continues with wide-width weaving now offered with the HD
Direct Drive – the ultimate solution for simplicity & quick change capability. Assembled in Itema’s
Song Jiang Factory near Shanghai
