Area of Outst<strong>and</strong>ing Natural<br />
Beauty as well as being part of<br />
Engl<strong>and</strong>’s only natural World<br />
Heritage Site, designated for its<br />
outst<strong>and</strong>ing geological interest.<br />
Walk along the coast to see the<br />
unique rock formations such as<br />
Durdle Door.<br />
The Coast Path<br />
The South West Coast Path<br />
follows the whole of our coastline<br />
starting at Shell Bay. For 27 miles<br />
you can experience the glorious<br />
s<strong>and</strong>y beaches, dramatic cliff tops,<br />
incredible rock formations,<br />
spectacular geological features<br />
<strong>and</strong> hidden coves that make up<br />
the <strong>Purbeck</strong> coastline. You can<br />
walk by quirky man made features<br />
such as St. Aldhelm's Chapel <strong>and</strong><br />
legacies of the area's quarrying<br />
heritage such as Dancing Ledge.<br />
Wildlife<br />
Whilst enjoying the coast keep<br />
your eyes peeled for the wide<br />
array of wildlife that calls <strong>Purbeck</strong><br />
its home, from birds including<br />
puffins, razorbills <strong>and</strong> guillemots,<br />
to sealife including dolphins <strong>and</strong><br />
porpoises <strong>and</strong> beautiful plant life<br />
including early spider, flowering<br />
bee <strong>and</strong> pyramidal orchids.<br />
