in their academic subjects. It is meant to<br />

encourage and reward students who work hard<br />

and give their best ef<strong>for</strong>t in school. These individuals<br />

demonstrate a commitment to learning<br />

and have worked diligently throughout his/her<br />

high school career.<br />

The Presidential Award <strong>for</strong> Outstanding Academic<br />

Excellence encourages students to<br />

achieve high academic standards by rewarding<br />

scholars <strong>for</strong> their academic ef<strong>for</strong>ts and success.<br />

To be eligible <strong>for</strong> this award, graduating<br />

seniors must meet the minimum requirements<br />

of a grade point average between 3.5 and 4.0;<br />

scoring in the 85th percentile or above in math<br />

or reading on the SAT, and recommendation<br />

by a teacher plus one other staff member.<br />
