IDEOL has developed and patented the Damping<br />
Pool® system. Its floating foundation can be used with<br />
any commercial offshore wind turbines, without modification.<br />
Damping Pool® enables reduction of floater<br />
motions by using the hydrodynamic properties of water<br />
mass entrapped into a central well. Oscillations are,<br />
by design, opposed to the excitation force generated<br />
by the waves.<br />
Based on a concrete hull built in partnership with major<br />
civil engineering companies, IDEOL scales from small to<br />
very large wind farms. On-site construction, high local<br />
content and versatile construction methods are used, depending<br />
on site conditions and local procurement options.<br />
IDEOL is currently working with partners on the construction<br />
and installation of two commercial scale<br />
demonstrators in 2014.<br />
