Year 2 Report
Over the last few weeks in science lessons
Year 2 have been looking at different ways
of communication. They have been
discussing visual signs as well as sign
language. Students have to choose one
visual sign and
research what that
sing is used for and
who would use it.
The classes have also been studying
“workers in the community” during HSIE.
This has involved looking at different
occupations in the community and what
they involve.
In writing the classes have been looking at
descriptive writing and have to write a
description on their favourite pet. For
technology they have created a map of the
school using aboriginal art symbols and
google maps.

Major Raffle
We have had an overwhelming response to
our Term 3 Gold Coast Holiday and
Nintendo 3DS raffle. Thank you to all
families who have taken the raffle books to
sell. If your child collected a book and you
do not wish to sell them, please return them
to the office as we have some people who
missed out on getting tickets.
The return date for tickets and money is
Monday 17 th September and it will be drawn
at assembly on the 21 st September 2012.

Club is due back to
school by 31
August!
Information Centre
Students from across Years 3-6 have
participated in video conferencing to refine their
writing skills. They have enjoyed presentations
from well known Australian authors such as John
Heffernan. He has written books such as
“Spud”and “Chips”.
Our video conferencing with the Korean schools
will be recommencing shortly as they are on their
summer break. A selection of students from
Years 3-6 have been
enjoying the
interaction with the
Korean students this
year. A new group will
have the opportunity
to participate in the
conferences through
the next few weeks
and Term 4. The
students and schools
have exchanged gifts and in the hallway of
Collarene we have two traditionally dressed
Korean dolls.
Cricket Trial Selections
At the Zone Cricket Trials held at Quirindi
Public School on Friday 17 August Lachlan
Bradfield, Aleksanda Hall and Alexander
Roseby were selected to participate in the
Regional Cricket Trials in Tamworth today.
Unfortunately due to injury Aleksanda was
unable to attend however we wish Lachlan
and Alexander all the best.
