白 腹 海 鵰 (Haliaeetus leucogaster) 體 型 龐 大 , 以 四 海 為 家 , 棲 息 於 海 岸 , 無 論 是
於 長 空 展 翅 , 又 或 是 雄 踞 崖 顛 , 都 是 一 副 風 姿 英 偉 的 模 樣 ! 豪 邁 的 背 後 , 卻 有 著 情
深 溫 柔 的 一 面 , 雄 鳥 和 雌 鳥 一 旦 結 為 夫 妻 , 便 會 終 生 廝 守 , 至 死 不 分 。 白 腹 海 鵰
在 香 港 和 內 地 只 有 零 星 分 布 , 屬 國 家 二 級 保 護 物 種 , 香 港 目 前 更 只 有 三 十 多 隻 。
White-bellied Sea Eagle (Haliaeetus leucogaster) is large, and lives in coastal
areas. Whether it is soaring high in the sky or perching atop cliffs, the eagle
displays its majesty! Behind its appearance, however, is a soft heart. The
male and female, once become a mating pair, will stay with each other until
the last day. The national level II protected species is only sparsely distributed
in Hong Kong and mainland China. There are only about 30 in Hong Kong.

白 腹 海 鵰 屬 大 型 猛 禽 , 身 長 75 至 85
厘 米 , 翼 展 可 達 218 厘 米 。 牠 們 以 白 色
為 主 , 頭 、 頸 至 下 身 及 尾 部 末 端 都 是 白
色 , 翅 膀 上 的 初 級 飛 羽 及 背 部 則 是 黑
色 , 飛 行 時 黑 白 分 明 , 格 外 搶 眼 。 牠 們
愛 在 海 岸 及 水 塘 上 空 滑 翔 及 盤 旋 , 找 尋
獵 物 , 由 地 面 看 上 去 , 飛 行 時 的 白 腹 海
鵰 雙 翼 稍 為 舉 起 成 V 字 形 , 尾 巴 呈 楔 形 。
本 港 可 找 到 27 種 猛 禽 , 白 腹 海 鵰 是
其 中 之 一 。 猛 禽 是 掠 食 性 鳥 類 , 而 白 腹
海 鵰 主 要 靠 捕 食 水 產 動 物 維 生 , 包 括
魚 、 甲 殼 類 動 物 ( 如 蝦 、 蟹 ) 及 海 蛇
等 , 有 時 也 會 吃 腐 肉 。 捕 食 時 , 牠 們
會 撲 向 水 面 , 以 彎 曲 的 利 爪 緊 緊 抓 住 獵
物 , 而 鈎 狀 的 嘴 有 助 牠 們 撕 吃 獵 物 。 白
腹 海 鵰 也 會 在 空 中 攻 擊 其 他 掠 食 性 鳥
類 ( 如 麻 鷹 ( Milvus migrans) ), 逼 牠
們 放 棄 擒 獲 的 獵 物 , 將 之 據 為 己 有 !
White-bellied Sea Eagle is a large
raptor. It has a body length of 75–85cm
and a wingspan of 218cm. The adults
are mainly in white, with the head, neck
through the lower belly and tail tip all
white. The primaries and back of the
wings are black, contrasting greatly
with the white when the eagle flies
overhead.These eagles love to soar
above sea coasts and fish ponds, to
look for prey. Viewed from the ground,
the stretching wings are held in a slight
V-shape and the tail is wedge-shaped.

There are 27 species of raptors (birds
of prey) in Hong Kong, including Whitebellied
Sea Eagle. It feeds mostly
on aquatic animals, including fish,
crustaceans (e.g. shrimps and crabs)
and sea snakes. Sometimes it acts as a
scavenger too. When hunting, the eagle
dashes towards the water surface and
catches the prey with its claws, then
uses its hooked beak to rip into the prey.
The eagle will also attack other birds
of prey in the air (such as Black Kite,
Milvus migrans) to force them to give up
their prey and feed the piratical eagle!

情 訂 海 崖 矢 志 不 渝
Forever Love
白 腹 海 鵰 是 本 港 的 留 鳥 , 但 並 不 常 見 ,
只 有 約 十 對 白 腹 海 鵰 在 香 港 繁 殖 , 連 同 幼
鳥 , 只 有 大 約 三 十 多 隻 在 香 港 生 活 。 牠 們
居 住 的 位 置 遍 布 香 港 沿 海 , 例 如 西 貢 、
石 鼓 洲 、 青 洲 、 龍 鼓 洲 等 。 牠 們 一 般 會
在 崖 邊 的 大 樹 上 築 巢 , 有 時 也 會 築 在 岩 石
上 。 白 腹 海 鵰 選 定 了 伴 侶 後 , 就 終 身 不
離 , 矢 志 不 渝 。 每 年 冬 天 , 牠 們 多 數 會 回
到 同 一 個 位 置 築 巢 , 然 後 共 同 養 育 雛 鳥 。
現 時 , 全 球 約 有 一 萬 隻 白 腹 海 鵰 , 主
要 分 布 在 澳 洲 及 東 南 亞 一 帶 , 而 香 港 及
中 國 南 部 沿 海 亦 只 是 偶 有 記 錄 , 數 量 不
多 , 屬 國 家 二 級 保 護 物 種 , 禁 止 捕 獵 及
買 賣 。 另 外 , 白 腹 海 鵰 亦 列 入 了 「 瀕 危
野 生 動 植 物 種 國 際 貿 易 公 約 (CITES)」
附 錄 二 名 單 , 在 保 育 方 面 受 國 際 重 視 。
在 本 港 , 白 腹 海 鵰 的 保 育 亦 引 起 市 民 大
眾 的 關 注 , 例 如 早 年 一 對 白 腹 海 鵰 在 香 港
仔 田 灣 一 座 電 塔 兩 度 築 巢 , 電 力 公 司 最 後
因 供 電 及 雀 鳥 安 全 理 由 而 拆 去 鵰 巢 , 引
起 了 媒 體 廣 泛 報 導 。 政 府 現 正 計 劃 興 建
焚 化 爐 , 暫 傾 向 選 址 石 鼓 洲 , 該 處 水 域 居
住 了 一 對 白 腹 海 鵰 , 過 去 五 年 冬 季 都 在 島
上 築 巢 生 蛋 , 工 程 一 旦 展 開 必 會 影 響 牠
們 , 情 況 令 人 擔 心 。 白 腹 海 鵰 更 加 是 海
岸 生 態 的 生 物 指 標 , 牠 們 需 要 天 然 的 海
岸 線 作 棲 息 地 , 也 需 要 健 康 的 海 岸 食 物
網 供 應 食 物 , 所 以 牠 們 的 存 活 亦 充 分 反
映 了 海 岸 受 人 為 干 擾 和 污 染 的 情 況 。
White-bellied Sea Eagle is a local
resident species. It is not common,
however, and there are about 10
breeding pairs, and – including young
– around 30 individuals in Hong Kong.
They are distributed in coastal areas,
such as Sai Kung, Shek Kwu Chau,
Green Island and Lung Kwu Chau. They
usually build their nests on large trees
by the coast and sometimes on rocks.
After choosing their partners, the couple
will stay with each other until death.
Every winter, they return to the same
location to build their nest and nurture
young.
There are at present about 10,000
individuals worldwide, mostly in
Australia and South East Asia. There
are only occasional records along
China’s southern coast. The species
is a national level II protected species
and any hunting and trading of Whitebellied
Sea Eagle is prohibited in China.
In addition, the species is listed in the
Appendix II of CITES (Convention on
International Trade in Endangered

and is an important species in global
conservation.
Locally, White-bellied Sea Eagle
has gained much public attention. For
example, in former years a pair of
White-bellied Sea Eagles twice built
their nest on an electricity pylon in Tin
Wan, Aberdeen. The electric company
removed the nest due to power supply
and safety concerns, and attracted wide
media coverage. The government is now
planning to build an incinerator beside
Shek Kwu Chau. But a pair of Whitebellied
Sea Eagle lives in the area and
has been building a nest and laying eggs
in the past five winters. Once the works
begin the birds will certainly be affected.
The situation is worrying. White-bellied
Sea Eagle is also an indicator of coastal
ecology. The eagles need natural
coastline as habitat and a healthy food
chain to support them. Their survival
reflects the artificial disturbance and
pollution in coastal areas.
