1. Welcome and apologies
Amanda welcomed everyone to the meeting, apologies are listed above.
2. Matters arising from last meeting:
None
3. Bid Writing Workshop –
Jenny Savage (Westfield) explained the Bid Writing Workshop which is being
run on the 15/04/13 9.00am – 3.15pm at Westfield Arts College – would be
extremely beneficial to those attending the CEP SBM Group. The cost of the
course will be £95, possible subsidy - Jenny Savage will investigate.
Action: E-Mail Jenny if you wish to attend

Discussion into different funding streams available. Grants on-line website is
useful, also there are lots special needs funding available etc.
Action: Available Grants - Caroline Peer to add the SBM group to the
monthly email distribution list.
4. Findel –
Update – On-going issues discussed problems with invoicing, applying
voucher discounts etc. The group recognised that Gemma Price (Findel
Account Manager) is helpful and efficient and any issues are resolved
effectively.
Action: Schools to email Amanda (office@portesham.dorset.sch.uk) by
Friday 14 th December, with any outstanding Findel issues
Any specific issues email Amanda and she will arrange a meeting with
Gemma Price and James Hankin from Findel to resolve. Findel will be
present at the CEP Inset Day on 15 th March 2013 and will be bringing along
numeracy themed products.
Lyreco – New price list was distributed.
5. Principals –
Principals (cleaning & hygiene products) have put together a package for
CEP schools which sees a discount of 0.5% for each CEP school that places
an order in the month (up to a maximum of 10%). An information pack,
prepared by Principals, was distributed to all present. Feedback from schools
who currently use Principals was extremely positive. Principals offer next day
delivery and the products are of a high quality and priced competitively.
Principals are offering free COSHH training to all CEP schools.
6. Grounds Maintenance –
Dorset Works Organisation (Mr Nigel Beckett) are keen to come and speak to
CEP schools and will look to offer competitive quotations for schools grouping
together. Portesham School’s ground maintenance contract is coming to an
end in March 2013 and they will look to DWO for a quote.
Action: If any other schools are looking for a quote, please contact Amanda
to arrange so a joint approach can be made.
7. Schools Business Manager Leader –
Amanda will be taking up a new post at Weymouth College after Christmas. A
discussion followed regarding taking turns/sharing the workload.
Action: Any volunteers who would like to Chair the group please contact
Caroline Peer.
Action: A.O.B –
• First Aid training - Lee Payne (H&S) at DCC can arrange training or Wessex
First Aid training also provides competitive priced training and feedback from
Holy Trinity is positive.
• SIMS - Discussion regarding SIMS data and reporting.

Action: Contact Bryan Trim at the SAFSO team if you require a health check
on your system.
• Music Teachers – Tuition held in school time. Discussion regarding ideal
times /days as they have been known to disrupt lessons.
• Specialist Teachers – Discussion regarding different specialists who come
into school to cover PPA time etc. Names and organisations were suggested
within the group.
