<strong>Community</strong> Grants proGram<br />
Each year the <strong>Community</strong> Grants Program provides funding in response to inquiries made by<br />
registered charities in <strong>Edmonton</strong> and to <strong>Foundation</strong> Directed Initiatives. These grants address<br />
community needs in categories such as arts, culture, and heritage; education and learning; health<br />
and wellness; community and social services; recreation and leisure; and the environment. Total<br />
disbursements made through the <strong>Community</strong> Grants Program totalled over $1.4 million in <strong>2009</strong>.<br />
COmmuNITy FuNdS<br />
The Board has full discretion in disbursing the net income from <strong>Community</strong> Funds, either through<br />
an application process or by proactively identifying priority community needs. In addition to<br />
those donors who have established named <strong>Community</strong> Funds, many donors have made<br />
significant cumulative contributions to the General <strong>Community</strong> Fund since inception.<br />
