Our shoebox appeal...
Operation Christmas Child is the world’s largest children’s Christmas
project, bringing joy into the lives of underprivileged children since
1990. Last year, nearly 1.2million shoeboxes were packed with gifts
and goodies and sent from the UK to children who need them most
in some of the toughest parts of the world, including Haiti (where the
little girl shown above is from).
Everyone wins when you donate online!
Donating online is simple and safe and it makes life much easier for
us. It also means more of your donation goes to helping those who
need it most – the children. To donate online using our secure site,
please visit www.operationchristmaschild.org.uk.
What gifts can I include
Yes please!
NEW!
• Toys: Bear, soft toy, finger puppet, jigsaw, yo-yo, building blocks, small
musical instrument. For boys trucks and cars, for girls dolls, clip on
earrings, etc.
• Educational supplies: Felt pens, pens, pencils, pencil sharpener,
eraser, colouring book, notepad, picture or puzzle book, chalk, pencil
case, stickers, etc.
• Hygiene items: Toothbrush, toothpaste, hairbrush, comb, hair clips,
bar of soap, flannel, etc.
• Sports items: Tennis ball, skipping rope, baseball hat, small
football, inflatable beach ball, stop watch, sweat bands, swim
goggles, toy medals (let’s celebrate the 2012 Olympics by
sending sports items to needy children!)
• Other items: Sweets (sell by date to be at least March
of the following year), gloves, scarf, sunglasses, hat,
bangles, necklaces, etc.
All gifts should be new, please include items from each category.
NEW! Find out where your
shoebox went by donating online
Ever wanted to know where your shoebox gift went This year,
we are giving you the opportunity to do just that – but only if you
donate online. Once you’ve completed your online donation, print
out the unique reference code provided and place this inside your
shoebox. Once we’ve processed your shoebox and confirmed its
destination country, we will let you know by email.
It’s amazing how far £2.50 goes
Your donation of £2.50 covers UK transportation, shipping, distribution
and promotion, with any surplus going to the work of Samaritan’s Purse
with children and families in need. Quite remarkable, really...
No thanks!
• No food especially chocolate. Only exception, non-chocolate sweets.
• No medicine or vitamins of any kind.
• No war related items: Toy guns, soldiers or knives of any kind.
• No clothing other than listed above.
• No fragile items: Glass containers, mirrors.
• No liquids including blow bubbles, shampoo, bubble bath, toiletry
sets or aerosols.
• No dangerous items: Sharp objects, scissors or razors.
• No novels.
• Nothing of a political nature.
• No hand-knitted stuffed toys without a CE mark.
The small print Due to import regulations, all gifts should be new and comply with the conditions listed above.
Please make sure your gifts are age appropriate and that you do not send items in a shoebox (intended for a small
child), which might be swallowed or mistaken for sweets. Should you inadvertently include any item that is not
suitable or might be regarded as dangerous for the intended child, Samaritan’s Purse reserves the right to remove
that item and use it for the benefit of the charity. Occasionally we have to change some contents to meet specific
country requirements or change the shoebox to meet our approximate dimensions.

How to pack your shoebox
1 Find an empty
shoebox
The shoebox should ideally be medium
size, as shown. Wrap the lid and the
box separately in wrapping paper.

2 Decide if your
gift is for a
boy or girl
Tick the appropriate age box on
the sticker provided. Then remove
and stick on the top right of the lid.
Make sure the label is secure.
3 Fill your box
with gifts
You can use the gift ideas list on the
right for inspiration. Please DO NOT
include items in the ‘No thanks’ box.

4 Make your donation
Please donate online if at all possible.
If not, please complete the donation form
(below) and attach a cash or cheque
donation of at least £2.50 per shoebox.
Place the form in your shoebox on top of
the contents. Secure the lid with a rubber band.
5 Drop off your shoebox
Take your shoebox to your nearest drop
off point between November 1st – 18th
(see overleaf for details on finding your
nearest drop off point).
