Octagonal ash handles and high alloy chrome vanadium steel blades tempered to RC 59-61
hardness. Handles are fitted to a full bolster and square tang with an internal steel ferrule
under the bolster to help prevent the handle from splitting.
All cutting edges are honed razor-shap and ready to use. The inside sweeps are precisely
ground and finely polished so sharpening is easy. All PFEIL product is manufactured with
the highest regard for protection of the environment. A product brochure showing the
various sweeps in the sets is available upon request.
Professional carving Sets: These feature full size chisels and gouges with blades between
4 ½” and 5 ½” long and between 9” and 11” overall length.

JaPanESE SLIcKS & chISELS
These slicks and chisels feature Japanese technology of laminating a hard high carbon steel
to a softer steel. This combination provides an excellent cutting edge while maintaining
blade strength. The blades are traditionally shorter but with a longer shoulder and fitted
to wooden handle with a longer, heavier tang and a strong steel ferrule. The handles are
red oak with the chisels having a heavy hoop on the striking end. Tempered to an amazing
Rockwell c64, these are white steel and we stock both firmer and timber framing chisels.
