VISITACION VALLEY’S MERCHANT NEWSLETTER

Visitacion Valley Neighborhood Block Party is on –
Sunday, September 27 th from 9:00am to 1:00pm on Alpha
Street (between Leland Ave. and Raymond Ave.) in
downtown Vis Valley. The block party will culminate in an
unveiling of the ‘Community Mural’ on the Alpha Street
side of the Nayarit Taqueria – 98 Leland Ave. Artists
including former Visitacion Valley Boys & Girls Club Art
and Technical Director DanAnh Nguyen along with
neighborhood youth who helped paint the vibrant mural
will all be on hand to ceremoniously sign their name to
this distinguished work of art. If you’re interested in a

As if acknowledging this glorious artwork isn’t enough
reason to come out, there will be a breakfast buffet…a
magnificent breakfast buffet. A mere $5.00 will get all
block party attendees a heaping plate of breakfast
goodies provided by Leland Avenue restaurants and
produce markets. The best part 100% of all money
collected from the breakfast buffet will go directly to the
new Visitacion Valley branch public library. The Friends
of San Francisco Public Library (SFPL) have launched a
capital campaign to raise money for much needed
equipment (including computers) and furniture for the
new branch library and we’re doing our part. Friends of
the SFPL will be on hand to talk to neighbors about the
new library.

Surprise…BLITZ!
On Thursday, August 13 th the
Department of Public Works
(DPW) conducted an ‘Eco-blitz’
along Leland Avenue between
10am and 12noon. Designed to
keep sidewalks safe, clean and
litter free, the eco-blitz is a
reminder that; by law, the
property owner or the groundfloor
tenant of the building
immediately adjacent to the
sidewalk is responsible for
keeping it clean and free of litter.
It is everybody’s responsibility to
keep San Francisco clean.
Grand Party for a Grand Opening
If you heard champagne bottles popping and noticed a party spilling out of 170 Leland Avenue on Saturday,
August 15 th , there was reason to celebrate. Marilyn Madison, Visitacion Valley’s newest beautician (see our
write up in July’s Grapevine column or
merchant newsletter – The Visionary)
finally made it official with a joyful
grand opening of Beautiful As You R Hair
Salon. Around 50 friends, family and
clients joined around 1pm on Saturday
afternoon to share a toast, snack on
some eats and celebrate the completely
remodeled interior of the salon.
Beautiful As You R is located at 170
Leland Avenue and open for business!

訪 谷 區 的 鄰 居 街 區 派 對 將 在 9 月 27 日 , 星 期 日 早 上 9
時 至 下 午 1 時 於 訪 谷 區 的 市 中 心 ,Alpha 街 ( 利 蘭 街 和
Raymond 街 之 間 ) 舉 行 。 這 個 街 區 派 對 將 揭 幕 新 的 ' 社
區 壁 畫 '. 這 個 壁 畫 是 在 Alpha 街 , 也 就 是 利 蘭 街 98 號 的

俱 樂 部 (Boys & Girls Club) 的 藝 術 和 技 術 總 監 DanAnh
Nguyen, 和 隨 著 區 內 的 青 年 共 同 畫 了 充 滿 活 力 的 壁 畫 .
在 活 動 當 天 , 藝 術 家 和 有 份 參 與 的 青 年 會 在 現 場 隆 重 地

醒 人 們 , 根 據 法 律 , 業 主 或 一
樓 住 戶 或 租 客 , 要 為 門 外 的 人 行
道 負 責 保 持 乾 淨 和 没 有 垃 圾 堆
積 。
保 持 三 藩 市 清 潔 , 這 是 每 個 人 的
