Job Description<br />

HLTA<br />

Our aim is to create an outstanding <strong>Academy</strong> at Bed<strong>for</strong>d and our staff will be expected to exemplify<br />

excellence in all that <strong>the</strong>y do. Our HLTAs will be people with high expectations, enthusiasm and <strong>the</strong><br />

ability to positively impact on <strong>the</strong> learning, skills and experiences of our students. We value <strong>the</strong> ability to<br />

demonstrate emotional intelligence, be flexible and to adapt to different situations with a clear sense of<br />

humour. We require an outstanding teacher with ability to raise student.<br />

Essential<br />

• Hold HLTA qualification<br />

• Hold qualifications at least to NQF level 3<br />

or equivalent<br />

• Literacy and numeracy qualifications to<br />

level 2 or above<br />

• Minimum of 2 years working with children<br />

or young people, preferably in an education<br />

setting<br />

• Knowledge of current safeguarding and<br />

child protection practice<br />

• Experience of working in a school context<br />

• Understanding of and an interest in<br />

education<br />

• Experience of working in a community with<br />

a culturally and socially diverse population<br />

• Experience of effective record keeping, use<br />

of administrative skills<br />

• Knowledge and understanding of health &<br />

safety issues within your area.<br />

• Evidence of specialism in specified<br />

curriculum area<br />

• Knowledge and understanding of strategies<br />

<strong>for</strong> developing and supporting literacy and<br />

numeracy<br />

• Knowledge of National Curriculum<br />

requirements<br />

• Knowledge of behaviour <strong>for</strong> learning<br />

strategies<br />

• Willingness to learn<br />

• Ability to lead and manage own work<br />

effectively and take responsibility <strong>for</strong> own<br />

professional development<br />

• Developed interpersonal and<br />

communication skills (including written, oral<br />

and presentation skills)<br />

Desirable<br />

• Experience of working<br />

with children of a<br />

secondary school age<br />

• Experience of supporting<br />

and developing o<strong>the</strong>rs<br />

• Understanding of <strong>the</strong><br />

area, local communities<br />

and relevant issues <strong>for</strong><br />

families.<br />

• Knowledge of KS3 and<br />

GCSE course<br />

requirements<br />

• GCSE grade C or better<br />

in English and Maths,<br />

GCSE grade C or better<br />

in specific subject area<br />

• Be able to cope with change and meet<br />

challenges successfully<br />

• Team working skills<br />

• Ability to liaise/consult with as appropriate<br />

with a range of professionals and agencies<br />
