Introduction
30 years ofAxial-Flow
Leadership
In 1977,the harvesting world was introduced to a
revolutionary harvesting design, based on five core
principles:
•Simplicity
•Grain Quality
•Grain Savings
•Crop Adaptability
•Matched Capacity
Today,30 years and over130,000 com bines later, itrem ains
the rotary harvesting benchm ark.In fact,a lothermajor
rotary com bine m anufacturers com bined do notmake up the
num berofAxial-Flow com bines produced!
As farming has changed overthe years,Case IH engineers
continue to update, and upgrade the Axial-Flow to keep up
with changing custom erneeds, and maximize productivity for
any crop,underany condition.
Enclosed in this productinformation piece are the major
improvem ents to the Axial-Flow organized chronologica ly.
Case IH has developed many ofthese improvem ents into
com bine after-sales supportkits,m any thatcan be retrofitted
back to the very firstAxial-Flow com bine!

1977 The introduction ofthe first300 Axial-Flow Combines
occurred in 1977,offering two new m odels:
• M odel1440 featured a 135-HP,436 Cu.In.engine,with a
145 Bu.grain tank.
• M odel1460 delivered 170 HP with its 436 Cu.In.engine
and offered greatercapacity with a 210 Bu.grain tank.
The firstAxial-Flow com bines had the fo low ing features:
