Granger Lions Club (Liberty, Intelligence, Our Nation’s Safety) 

The International Association of Lions Clubs began as the dream of Chicago insurance man 

Melvin Jones, who wondered why local business clubs – he was an active member of one – 

could not expand their horizons from purely business concerns to bettering their communities 

and the world at large. The club meets at the Harris Branch Library at 6:30 pm on the 3rd 

Thursday of each month.

Kiwanis Club of Knute Rockne Memorial, Granger 

“Serving the Children of the World” 

Kiwanis International is a thriving organization of service and community-minded individuals who 

support children and young adults around the world. Key aspects to operating an effective club 

include: Evaluating both children’s issues and community needs on an ongoing basis, conducting 

service projects to respond to those identified needs, and maintaining an active membership roster 

of professional business people who have both the desire & ability to serve their community. 

The club meets at the Honker’s Restaurant on Day Road on Thursdays at 6:45 am. 

Harris Baseball/ Softball

The league’s park is privately owned and financed entirely by its patrons. The park serves 

over 1,450 area youth with baseball and softball programs. Players aged 5 to 17 are involved 

in the league, which plays from April to early July. The baseball program is affiliated with the 

Babe Ruth / Cal Ripkin Leagues. Softball is affiliated with the Amateur Softball Association.

The Granger Business Association was formed 

to support & promote our member businesses and 

give back to the community in ways that have a 

positive impact. 

For our businesses we provide monthly Granger After Hours networking 

events, quarterly Lunch & Learn Luncheons featuring speakers of interest, an 

annual Golfers For Granger Golf Outing and other events meant to give our 

members opportunities to make new business and social connections. The GBA 

also provides our members with unique opportunities for visibility in our community 

via programs such as the Business District Banner Program and 

Spotlight on Granger that provides free advertising for member businesses. 

For our community we award $10,000 in scholarships to graduating Granger 

students each year, sponsor Little League and Rocket Football teams and 

sponsor community organizations such as The Friends of Granger Paths and 

the PHM Educational Foundation. We are the sponsor organization for Granger 

Cub Scout Pack 562 and are a sponsor of The Penn High School Robotics 

Team. We organize an annual Granger Day at the Cove that brings 800 Granger 

residents to the “Cove” for an evening of baseball, fun and to recognize our 

scholarship recipients. We also sponsor meetings and forums for businesses & 

residents to voice their opinions directly to our elected county and state officials. 

All in all membership in the GBA is a cost effective way for local business 

people to connect and at the same time give back to the community that 

contributes to their success.
