How does pricing compare 

Trim-Tex Mud Set Beads are less than paper faced metal beads and significantly lower than 

flocked or paper covered composite beads. Trim-Tex’s 100% Rigid Vinyl construction assures 

zero pre-installation or jobsite damage. 

Does it use more drywall compound 

It depends which tape-on bead you’re comparing to, and how they are installed. Tape-on beads 

can trap excess compound under the paper flange, raising the bead off the wall and using more 

compound on all coats. Mud Set Beads feature a combination of micro perforations and Mud 

Locks to provide the exact amount of compound needed; securely bonding the bead to the drywall.

Is it compatible with any current hopper 

Yes. But on the Strait-Flex hopper, use the bullnose inserts for both Bullnose and Rigid 90º Mud 

Set Beads. 

What about rollers 

Most rollers are compatible, however, we recommend using Trim-Tex Pro Series Roller Tools 

(#385 and #386) because our simple one roller combo tool is designed to perfectly center and 

embed our beads with one up and down motion. Other company’s tools will work, however, they 

are designed to embed paper flanges rather than plastic mud locks.
