A characteristic feature of the Floriade
2012 site is the way in which the terrain
naturally creates five so-called themed
areas which will be optimally utilised in
the framework of the overarching
concept. Each of the 5 themes used to
convey the message of Floriade will be
linked to an island.
All the guests will enter the Floriade
park via a central entrance. The central
entrance is part of the Innovacomplex
that will be used as an office building after
Floriade has ended. Part of this building
will house the central facilities of Floriade
2012 (cash desks, security services,
restaurants and catering, press rooms).
Guests then enter a central plaza, where
they can decide which of the themed
zones they want to visit first.
Cultural programme
Nature and culture are closely interconnected. International art, culture and entertainment inspire the horticultural sector and vice
versa. Throughout the entire park visitors can to enjoy a wide range of entertainment, art and culture, culminating in the World Show
Stage events. Floriade will be staging inspirational shows, workshops, international and theatrical performances, regional folk tales and
interactive creative events in which young and old can take part.
The cultural programme of Floriade 2012 is linked to the themed zone World Show Stage. This also includes the influence of
international cultures on the horticultural sector. This translates into art, culture and entertainment inspired by the philosophy that the
international, horticultural sector contributes to our quality of life. Cultural projects with a social focus are complementary in this theme.

Plans for the park
To emphasise the sustainable and
pioneering nature of Floriade, concepts are
being developed involving collaboration
with educational institutes and the
business community. This cooperation
is intended to result in interesting and
original ideas relating to Floriade using
innovative projects and possibly quizzes,
and also to foster a sense of involvement
within this target group as well as creating
an innovative, unique experience.
