Floriade 2012 promises to be an educational day out for all, during which awareness is raised of the importance of horticulture in the
daily life of each individual.
• Environment
• Relax & Heal
• World Show Stage
Floriade 2012 will play host to at least 2 million (paying) visitors. These visitors will be trade professionals who proud of their produce
and want to exchange their services and expertise with national and international colleagues, as well as families with children on a fun
day out who want to be entertained by new and exhilarating experiences.
Floriade 2012 aims to be a stage for socially responsible production methods in horticulture and a showcase for sustainably produced,
healthy Dutch produce. This makes Floriade a unique opportunity for the region, both in the run up to the event and in the years
following it.
The visitors experience a good balance between the World Horticultural Expo and the event. The core message of the experience will be
conveyed by the combination of the green (nature) and red (mankind) common threads running through the event.
The central theme ‘be part of the theatre in nature, get closer to the quality of life’ symbolises the relationship between man, nature and
food, in other words the influence of horticulture [trees, plants, flowers, fruit and fruit and vegetables ] on the quality of life in the sense
of financial, physical and mental wellbeing.
The central theme will be presented in 5 core themed areas.
Living and working in a green
environment improves our quality
of life. Gardens and balconies are
integral parts of our home - parts
that confront us directly with the
use of natural raw materials and
the impact this has on our quality
of life, both now and in the future.
So this theme also covers topics
such as the green city, better
garden architecture, climateneutral
entrepreneurship and our
perception of the new living and
working landscape.
Horticulture makes life healthier
by promoting both our physical
and mental wellbeing. Resulting
in better vitality and optimum joy
of life. Visitors will taste, smell,
feel, hear and see the influences
of horticultural products on our
wellbeing. This theme includes
topics such as healthy eating,
rituals and religions and sports
activities.
Nature and culture are closely
interconnected. International art,
culture and entertainment inspire
the horticultural sector and vice
versa. Throughout the entire park,
visitors can enjoy a whole range
of entertainment, art and culture,
culminating in the World Show
Stage events.
• Green Engine
Horticulture is an important
economic engine and
supplier of green energy.
Floriade 2012 will display
the sector’s entire supply
chain, from product
development and logistic
functions to applications
and contact with end users.
Areas such bio sciences, life
sciences, sustainable energy
and the greenhouse as an
energy source also fit into
this framework.
• Education & Innovation
Floriade 2012 promotes
the interface between
horticulture, education and
innovation. The focus is
on increasing knowledge
throughout the entire
European region, with a
knowledge centre for
innovation in the horticultural
sector. Floriade 2012 will
be contributing to a unique,
forward-looking region where
horticulture, knowledge and
education go hand in hand.
