TARANAKI SECONDARY SCHOOLS DRESSAGE TOURNAMENT <strong>2012</strong><br />

Conditions: The day will be run under NZEF rules – please familiarise yourselves with these. By entering,<br />

teams agree to abide by the rules of the day. This event will be smoke, drug <strong>and</strong> alcohol free. In order to be<br />

eligible, riders must be:<br />

- Year 9 to Year 14 students inclusive. (Year 7 <strong>and</strong> 8 may enter as non competitors ONLY).<br />

- Currently attending a secondary school in the North Isl<strong>and</strong>.<br />

The organisers reserve the right to alter the classes. Please nominate only one liaison person per school, who<br />

is responsible for ensuring team, riders, coaches <strong>and</strong> parents are given all in<strong>form</strong>ation pertaining to the day. On<br />

the day, teams must be accompanied by an adult, (team coach or manager).<br />

Team managers are to per<strong>form</strong> a gear check on the day. When riders are mounted, hard hats must be worn,<br />

preferably safety approved helmets. NO dogs are allowed on the grounds – penalty of elimination.<br />

Times: Competition starts 9.30am.<br />

Managers meeting 9.00am.<br />

injury to competitors, spectators or their property in accordance with articles 114/60 & 163 of the NZEF.<br />

Teams: <strong>School</strong>s may enter as many teams as they wish with a maximum number of four riders to a team. Any<br />

composite teams must be approved by the organising committee. Teams should consist of riders in at least two<br />

of the four classes. Scoring will be allocated by placings in the event e.g. First place = 10 points, Second place =<br />

9 points etc to Tenth place = 1 point. The winning team will be the team with the highest placings on the day in<br />

ANY class. If insufficient entries in the class, the points system will be rated accordingly.<br />

Uni<strong>form</strong>s: Riders need to wear school colours.<br />

Ribbons will be offered to 4 th place individually for each class <strong>and</strong> 6 th place for teams.<br />

Entries must be made according to the combination’s current ability. The organising committee reserve<br />

the right to amend any entry if the combination is competing below their obvious ability. Managers are<br />

asked to sign the entry <strong>form</strong> confirming that ALL riders have entered the correct class according to<br />

current level <strong>and</strong> ability.<br />

The class will consist of the combination completing two tests for each event. Riders may ride up to two<br />

mounts. Each mount may only be entered in ONE class.<br />

Class 1. Beginners/ have NEVER competed in a dressage test before.<br />

Class 4. Novice = Anyone who has competed at NZEF novice or above or placed in a preliminary class,<br />

belongs in this class!!<br />

Duties: <strong>School</strong>s must provide helpers as allocated by the organisers (writers, stewards etc). Please provide 2<br />

names per school for this.
