The first interactive pl<strong>at</strong>form to promote local architectural arts to the world<br />
Announces the voting result of the <strong>Hong</strong> Kong Iconic Building list<br />
(<strong>Hong</strong> Kong, 27 April 2011) To promote the <strong>Hong</strong> Kong architectural <strong>work</strong>s and talents locally and<br />
globally, Internet Professional Associ<strong>at</strong>ion (iProA), with the support from the <strong>Hong</strong> Kong Institute of<br />
Architects (HKIA) and the sponsorship from Cre<strong>at</strong>e <strong>Hong</strong> Kong (Cre<strong>at</strong>eHK) of the Government of the<br />
HKSAR, launched the <strong>online</strong> architectural inform<strong>at</strong>ion pl<strong>at</strong>form <strong>build</strong>.<strong>hk</strong> today. It serves as an<br />
interactive pl<strong>at</strong>form for the general public to appreci<strong>at</strong>e and understand the <strong>build</strong>ing arts and design<br />
excellence of architectural industry and history of <strong>Hong</strong> Kong and for the peer of architectural<br />
community to share professional <strong>work</strong>s, new ideas and promote industry incub<strong>at</strong>ion of new blood.<br />
The <strong>online</strong> pl<strong>at</strong>form <strong>build</strong>.<strong>hk</strong> includes a d<strong>at</strong>abase of architectural design, architects’ profiles and<br />
architectural students’ thesis and inform<strong>at</strong>ion. It also allows architects to upd<strong>at</strong>e their profiles like<br />
company inform<strong>at</strong>ion, awards inform<strong>at</strong>ion, <strong>build</strong>ing photos, graphics and 3D models. These <strong>work</strong>s<br />
are a testament to <strong>build</strong> <strong>Hong</strong> Kong’s reput<strong>at</strong>ion as a well-designed city and a cre<strong>at</strong>ive talent base for<br />
the region. Some of the outstanding 3D models are now available to view including famous <strong>Hong</strong><br />
Kong <strong><strong>build</strong>ings</strong> such as Tsim Sha Tsui Clock Tower, <strong>Hong</strong> Kong Cultural Centre and <strong>Hong</strong> Kong<br />
Space Museum.<br />
The <strong>online</strong> pl<strong>at</strong>form also includes the l<strong>at</strong>est news about the industry such as <strong>build</strong>ing design awards,<br />
competition, promotions and exhibitions. The first activity th<strong>at</strong> involved public particip<strong>at</strong>ion is ‘<strong>Hong</strong><br />
Kong Iconic Building Voting Competition’. It aims to enhance the interest of general public towards<br />
<strong>Hong</strong> Kong architectural design and knowledge of the local culture in different times by selecting<br />
their favourite <strong><strong>build</strong>ings</strong> in <strong>Hong</strong> Kong. Participants who voted and gave their comment about the<br />
selected <strong><strong>build</strong>ings</strong> can get a chance to win an iPad2. The voting result and award winners list are<br />
uploaded to <strong>build</strong>.<strong>hk</strong> and shown in the <strong>at</strong>tachment. Selected <strong><strong>build</strong>ings</strong> out of the voting result will be<br />
made into 3D models and shown in <strong>build</strong>.<strong>hk</strong> soon. (Voting result to be provided)<br />
Mr. Jerry Liu, Head of Cre<strong>at</strong>eHK, the Guest of Honour of the Launching Ceremony, said:<br />

as one of the six economic areas with growth potential in <strong>Hong</strong> Kong. Cre<strong>at</strong>eHK is pleased to<br />

architectural sector to their potential clients as well as the general public.”<br />
Commenting on the new pl<strong>at</strong>form, Dr. Winnie Tang, JP, President of iProA, said, “<strong>build</strong>.<strong>hk</strong> is a unique<br />
pl<strong>at</strong>form th<strong>at</strong> showcases the vibrant architectural culture and styles in <strong>Hong</strong> Kong. It allows people<br />
from around the world to experience how local architectural talents to redefine the public spaces and<br />
magnificent skylines for <strong>Hong</strong> Kong. We hope th<strong>at</strong> it serves as a new inspir<strong>at</strong>ion to promote the<br />
architecture industry of <strong>Hong</strong> Kong and the traditional communic<strong>at</strong>ion boundaries.”<br />
Speaking of the importance of cultiv<strong>at</strong>ing the young architectural talents, Mr. Dominic Lam, President<br />
of HKIA, said, “with the mission to expose our local talents to worldwide market, enhance<br />
professional knowledge collabor<strong>at</strong>ion and promote industry incub<strong>at</strong>ion of new blood, <strong>build</strong>.<strong>hk</strong><br />
provides a pl<strong>at</strong>form for local architectural students to include their personal profiles, design profiles<br />
and art<strong>work</strong>s in this outreaching pl<strong>at</strong>form. Cultiv<strong>at</strong>ion of the next gener<strong>at</strong>ion of architects is the most<br />
