When the catalyst is functioning properly, the varying cycle of the output voltage of the rear oxygen sensor is slower than that of the output voltage of the front oxygen sensor. However, if both the output waveforms of the front and rear sensors are varying at the same rate, it indicates that the catalyst performance has deteriorated.
