WHOLESCHOOLASSEMBLY
Our first whole school student run assembly was a magnificent success. The theme of the assembly was to recognise the new leaders
in the school, celebrate the talents of our students in music and drama and listen to our guest speaker Mr. Shaun Micallef who had us
in stitches with his wit and humour. Our senior leaders were an inspiration to the junior students through their professionalism in
presenting the entire assembly. We also congratulate the school band on their fantastic performances, as well as 7E for getting up in
front of their peers to perform an African dance.
From the Fashion Parade to the acknowledgements of all the class captains, ambassadors, debaters and SRC, we say well done and
congratulations on the upbeat, happy atmosphere that was experienced in our assembly.
COLLEGECROSSCOUNTRY

The cross country was ran at Lake Edgewater where Years 7-9 competed
during their PE classes while Years 10-12 competed at lunch time. The
Years 7-9 race was fiercely contested with some close results. Even
though the Years 10-12 race was at lunch time, there was a massive turn
out in numbers for some very competitive races. The winners of their
respective year levels are on the table to the right. Having already
competed at the divisional level, team Maribyrnong have had numerous
students qualify for the WMR Finals. WELL DONE MARIBYRNONG.
On Friday 10 th June, some students from Maribyrnong College went to Footscray
to see the amazing and inspirational Dalai Lama. He is such an inspiring person to
listen to, as he sees everything in a positive way, and to be a better person. I
admire his dedication to helping the
world and the people in it, it is truly
amazing. We also learnt about true
friendship and opening up to people.
Friendship is the key to happiness in
life. The experience was life
changing and unforgettable. By
