Round 1 — Sweden at 9-under-par 137, by 10 strokes<br />
over Spain. Round 2 — Sweden at 15-under-par 275,<br />
by eight strokes over Spain. Round 3 — Sweden at<br />
14-under-par 422, by 11 strokes over Spain.<br />

Periods of light rain in the morning Wednesday with<br />
breezy and partly cloudy conditions the rest of the<br />
day. Cool and sunny on Thursday. Warmer and sunny<br />

Notes<br />
Sweden’s 10-stroke lead after the first round on the<br />
par-73 East Course shattered the championship mark<br />
for leading margin through 18 holes by five strokes …<br />
its 275 through 36 holes was also a record … The 48<br />
teams entered tied the previous WATC record of 48<br />
set in Puerto Rico in 2004 … The championships were<br />
conducted in Australia for the second time … At 6,260<br />
yards/5,724 meters, the East Course at The Grange<br />
Golf Club tied for the longest course in championship<br />
history … Two countries — Cook Islands and Latvia —<br />
competed for the first time … The championships were<br />
played in the Asia-Pacific zone for the seventh time<br />
… Maria Olivero, 34, of Argentina, played in her 10th<br />
consecutive competition, the most of any golfer in<br />
the field … Sereana Phillipps, 53, of Fiji was the oldest<br />
competitor and 13-year-olds Klara Spilkova of Czech<br />
Republic, Elmay Viking of Cook Islands and Violetta<br />
Siozou of Greece were the youngest … Mika Miyazato,<br />
18, of Japan, Paola Moreno, 23, of Colombia, Anna<br />
Nordqvist, 21, of Sweden, Dewi Claire Schreefel, 22,<br />
of the Netherlands and Alison Walshe, 23, of the USA<br />
advanced to the final stage of LPGA Qualifying School<br />
with their performances at sectional qualifying prior<br />
to the championship.<br />
Caroline Hedwall of Sweden was the low individual<br />
scorer at 280 in the 2008 championship.
