2000 Federal <strong>Ballast</strong> Efficacy Regulations<br />
<strong>Ballast</strong> manufacturers can manufacture <strong>and</strong> sell to<br />
distributors, fluorescent ballasts for Full-Wattage F40T12,<br />
F40T12/U, F96T12 <strong>and</strong> F96T12HO that do not meet the<br />
minimum <strong>Ballast</strong> Efficacy Factor (BEF) until July 1, 2010.<br />
However, the ruling stipulates these ballasts must meet<br />
the following criteria:<br />
• <strong>Ballast</strong>s must be marked<br />
“For Replacement Use Only”<br />
• <strong>Ballast</strong>s are only available<br />
with short leads<br />
• <strong>Ballast</strong>s are to be in packages<br />
not exceeding ten ballasts<br />
EPAct 2005<br />
Magnetic Fluorescent <strong>Ballast</strong>s<br />
On July 1, 2009 EPAct 2005 states that ballast manufacturers<br />
can manufacture <strong>and</strong> sell to distributors, fluorescent<br />
ballasts for Energy-Saving F40T12, F40T12/U, F96T12 <strong>and</strong><br />
F96T12HO that do not meet the minimum <strong>Ballast</strong> Efficacy<br />
Factor (BEF) until July 1, 2010. As of July 1, 2009 energysaving<br />
T12 ballasts manufactured <strong>and</strong> sold for replacement<br />
use must also meet the requirements listed above.<br />
Mercury Vapor <strong>Ballast</strong>s<br />
EPACT 2005 also states that Mercury Vapor <strong>Ballast</strong>s<br />
cannot be manufactured after January 1, 2008. Complete<br />

EPACT2005) <strong>and</strong> at www.sylvania.com<br />
OSRAM SYLVANIA will continue to supply the<br />
Magnetic Fluorescent <strong>Ballast</strong>s listed below for<br />
T12 lamps until July 1, 2010 (for replacement<br />
purposes only):<br />
