Wedding Etiquette and Toasts SUGGESTED TOP TABLE SEATING PLAN CHIEF BRIDESMAID GROOM’S FATHER BRIDE’S MOTHER GROOM BRIDE BRIDE’S FATHER GROOM’S MOTHER BEST MAN The Top Table The Top Table arrangement facing your guests should normally read from left to right: Chief Bridesmaid, Groom’s Father, Bride’s Mother, Groom, Bride, Bride’s Father, Groom’s Mother, Best Man. The Receiving Line The Receiving Line is courteous, practical and a great way to ensure you see everyone. Normally, when the Bride’s parents have sent out invitations, they can be regarded as the Host and Hostess and should be first in line to receive the guests. Grace The Toastmaster may say grace if required after escorting the Bride and Groom to their places at the top table. The toastmaster will introduce someone selected by the Bride and Groom to say grace if required. Sometimes grace is not said.
