JOB DESCRIPTION<br />

<strong>Title</strong>: <strong>Print</strong> & <strong>Copy</strong> <strong>Specialist</strong> Reports To: Director of In<strong>for</strong>mation Technology<br />

Salary: Range 31 Classification: Classified<br />

FLSA: Non-Exempt (hourly) Work Year: 12 Months – 261 Work Days<br />

BASIC FUNCTION:<br />

Under <strong>the</strong> direction <strong>and</strong> supervision of <strong>the</strong> Director of In<strong>for</strong>mation Technology, per<strong>for</strong>ms a variety of technical <strong>and</strong><br />

support services involving printing <strong>and</strong> production operations. Successful per<strong>for</strong>mance of <strong>the</strong> work requires technical<br />

skills as well as <strong>the</strong> ability to work independently to provide quality services in a cost-effective, timely manner.<br />

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES:<br />

• Operate high-speed copiers to reproduce a variety of materials <strong>for</strong> <strong>the</strong> District <strong>and</strong> public which includes flyers,<br />

<strong>for</strong>ms, newsletters, programs, instructional materials, tests, <strong>and</strong> booklets; receive <strong>and</strong> respond to duplication<br />

request <strong>and</strong> projects from various departments <strong>and</strong> school sites utilizing a print management system.<br />

• Review work submitted <strong>for</strong> reproduction; assure proper application of paper, sizes, <strong>and</strong> ink; prepare copiers <strong>for</strong><br />

extended production runs <strong>and</strong> monitor equipment during <strong>the</strong> duplication process.<br />

• Collate, assemble, fold <strong>and</strong> staple reproduced materials; cut <strong>and</strong> finish printing projects; prepare completed<br />

projects <strong>and</strong> materials <strong>for</strong> distribution; laminate materials as needed.<br />

• Clean <strong>and</strong> maintain equipment in efficient working condition; clear paper jams; replace toner as needed;<br />

per<strong>for</strong>m minor repairs as required <strong>and</strong>/or directed; arrange <strong>for</strong> major repairs as needed.<br />

• Convert paper documents into digital documents using high speed scanners; provide basic data entry <strong>for</strong><br />

digital document conversion system.<br />

• Stock paper, toner, staples <strong>and</strong> o<strong>the</strong>r printing supplies; maintain an accurate inventory of materials <strong>and</strong> supply<br />

orders create.<br />

• Maintain a variety of records including work logs, system logs, <strong>and</strong> digital files necessary to complete work.<br />

• Provide guidance <strong>and</strong> training to new employees, relief workers in <strong>the</strong> operation of production equipment.<br />

• Occasionally may be required to deliver orders to customer work sites.<br />

• Attend staff meetings <strong>and</strong> in-service training as appropriate.<br />

• Per<strong>for</strong>m o<strong>the</strong>r related duties as assigned.<br />

KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:<br />

Knowledge of: Equipment <strong>and</strong> procedures used in operations <strong>and</strong> activities of a modern digital print production<br />

center.<br />

Ability to:<br />

• Produce materials <strong>and</strong> documents using a variety of digital production equipment according to established<br />

specifications.<br />

• Operate <strong>and</strong> maintain multiple pieces of production equipment.<br />

• Use a PC, productivity applications, <strong>and</strong> print production software to complete work.<br />

• Respond to electronic or written order requests from staff <strong>and</strong> provide efficient <strong>and</strong> timely customer service.<br />

• Maintain an accurate inventory of paper <strong>and</strong> o<strong>the</strong>r print production supplies.<br />

• Setup <strong>and</strong> complete production jobs from start to finish.


• Read <strong>and</strong> underst<strong>and</strong> equipment instructions <strong>and</strong> service manuals.<br />

• Underst<strong>and</strong> <strong>and</strong> carry out oral <strong>and</strong> written directions <strong>and</strong> work independently without direct supervision.<br />

• Communicate effectively <strong>and</strong> accurately both orally <strong>and</strong> in writing.<br />

• Establish, maintain cooperative working relationships with co-workers <strong>and</strong> customers.<br />

• Speak, read, <strong>and</strong> write English.<br />

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:<br />

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.<br />

Experience: Two years of responsible digital production experience.<br />

Special Requirements: Must possess a valid Cali<strong>for</strong>nia Motor Vehicle Operator’s license <strong>and</strong> maintain <strong>the</strong> minimum<br />

state vehicle insurance.<br />

assistance. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral<br />

vision, depth perception, <strong>and</strong> <strong>the</strong> ability to adjust focus. Specific hearing abilities required by this job include <strong>the</strong><br />

determination of sound direction <strong>and</strong> vocal clarity over a public address sound system.<br />
