1. Background
‘ Maru thara desh mein, upje teen ratan
Ek dhola, duji marvan, teejo kasumal rang! ’
In the desert land, three jewels were born. The hero (Dhola), the heroine (Marvan) and finally the golden
colour (Kasumal rang) of harvest. These signify the profound love, beauty, valour and magnificence of
Rajasthan.
The scheme "Jaane Apna Rajasthan" is dedicated to the energetic generation whose ancestors were natives of
Rajasthan and are now living in different parts of the world. It is an initiative of the Government of Rajasthan
to re-connect the NRRs and their children with their motherland.
On the occasion of Pravasi Bharatiya Divas on 9th January 2012 in Jaipur, Hon'ble Chief Minister of
Rajasthan, Shri Ashok Gehlot announced the scheme "Jaane Apna Rajasthan" for Non Resident Rajasthani
Youth.
The main objective of this scheme is to instill a sense of pride and respect in the hearts of the Non Resident
Rajasthani Youth towards the glorious heritage, cultural splendour and exquisite architecture of the State and
at the same time acquaint them with Modern Character of Rajasthan with its economic, educational,
technological and industrial progress so that they develop affinity and affection with the land of their
ancestors.
Rajasthan Foundation will act as the nodal department in coordination with the Department of Tourism,
Government of Rajasthan for smooth execution of the scheme.
2. Objectives of the Scheme
1. To provide an opportunity to Non Resident Rajasthani youth (18 to 28 years) to get to know, and
understand their motherland so that this able and talented young generation living abroad gets a
chance to know the glorious aspects of their native land and is able to contribute to its rise on the
global platform.
2. To introduce NRR youth to the culture, art, folk music, spiritualism, historic valour & sacrifice,
agriculture and industry as well as the natural habitat of Rajasthan.
3. To help establish dialogue with their relatives, friends and near & dear ones.
4. To nurture a feeling of attachment and engagement for Rajasthan.
5. To bring the NRR youth who have never visited Rajasthan but only heard about the State in stories
and anecdotes from elders to see their native land.
6. To acquaint them with the organizational structure, political processes, cultural heritage and industrial
scenario of the State.
