Core Purpose:<br />

<strong>Vice</strong> <strong>Principal</strong>- <strong>Director</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Student</strong> <strong>Support</strong> <strong>and</strong> progress will contribute to the successful strategic<br />

leadership <strong>of</strong> the Academy <strong>and</strong> will be accountable, as a member <strong>of</strong> the leadership team to inspire,<br />

manage <strong>and</strong> lead staff <strong>and</strong> students to achieve their very best <strong>and</strong> to establish a culture that celebrates <strong>and</strong><br />

promotes academic <strong>and</strong> wider achievement.<br />

Strategic Role & Responsibility:<br />

As <strong>Vice</strong> <strong>Principal</strong> -<strong>Director</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Student</strong> <strong>Support</strong> the post holder will inspire, develop <strong>and</strong> lead:<br />

All policies <strong>and</strong> practices related to behaviour <strong>and</strong> discipline<br />

Line management <strong>of</strong> the Assistant <strong>Vice</strong> <strong>Principal</strong>s, Associate Assistant <strong>Vice</strong> <strong>Principal</strong>s <strong>and</strong> Pastoral<br />

<strong>Support</strong> staff<br />

Provide a termly summary report on progress against baseline targets on attendance, punctuality,<br />

inclusion <strong>and</strong> behaviour.<br />

Contribute to the Quality Assurance System as a senior leader to ensure effective Teaching &<br />

Learning within the Academy.<br />

Be accountable for Care Guidance & <strong>Support</strong> across the Academy.<br />

Responsibility for Safeguarding <strong>and</strong> CP matters<br />

Raise the pr<strong>of</strong>ile <strong>of</strong> the Academy through regular communications with parents/carers <strong>and</strong> the wider<br />

community.<br />

Operational Role<br />

To take responsibility for the following key drivers to raise st<strong>and</strong>ards within the Academy:


Develop <strong>and</strong> embed behaviour <strong>and</strong> discipline practices within the ‘<strong>Behaviour</strong> for Learning’ (BfL)<br />

programme.<br />

Regularly review rewards <strong>and</strong> sanctions to meet the needs <strong>of</strong> the students.<br />

Lead the Academy Year Teams.<br />

Management <strong>of</strong> in-house <strong>and</strong> external intervention programmes to promote positive behaviours.<br />

Liaison with outside agencies to access external support.<br />

Management <strong>of</strong> effective communication <strong>of</strong> all inclusion initiatives <strong>and</strong> programme through the<br />

learning forum.<br />

Coordinate mid-year admissions <strong>and</strong> oversee KS2-KS3/KS4-KS5 Transition.<br />

Management <strong>of</strong> exclusions.<br />

Prepare assembly rotas.<br />

Lead <strong>Student</strong> Voice within the Academy<br />

Provide a termly summary which reports on the attendance <strong>and</strong> behaviour <strong>of</strong> students in each year<br />

group <strong>and</strong> house in line with Academy targets.<br />

Set Academy global targets with the <strong>Principal</strong>.<br />

<strong>Support</strong> the Year System by support assemblies, academic reviews <strong>and</strong> the <strong>Behaviour</strong> for Learning<br />

(BfL)Programme.<br />

Responsibility for completing relevant sections <strong>of</strong> the Quality Assurance (QA) Document <strong>and</strong> Self<br />

Evaluation Form (SEF).<br />

Ensure pastoral team is making appropriate progress in line with the Academy Development Plan.<br />

Prepare <strong>and</strong> update Academy policies.<br />

Provide staff training as appropriate <strong>and</strong> linked to area <strong>of</strong> expertise.<br />

Supervision <strong>of</strong> students pre-Academy, break, lunchtimes <strong>and</strong> post Academy.<br />

The Postholder will contribute to the Academy’s objectives in service delivery by:<br />

contribution to improving st<strong>and</strong>ards <strong>of</strong> attainment<br />

Adopting Client Care <strong>and</strong> Quality assurance initiatives<br />

Fulfilling the role <strong>of</strong> <strong>Student</strong> Personal Adviser <strong>and</strong> /or mentor if required<br />

Contributing to the maintenance <strong>of</strong> a caring <strong>and</strong> stimulating environment for young people<br />

Conditions <strong>of</strong> Service:<br />

Governed by the National Agreement on Pay <strong>and</strong> Conditions <strong>of</strong> Service, supplemented by local conditions<br />

as agreed by the Governing Body.<br />

Special Conditions <strong>of</strong> Service<br />

Because <strong>of</strong> the nature <strong>of</strong> the post, c<strong>and</strong>idates are not entitled to withhold information regarding convictions<br />

by virtue <strong>of</strong> the Rehabilitation <strong>of</strong> Offenders Act 1974 (Exemptions) Order 1975 as amended. C<strong>and</strong>idates are<br />

required to give details <strong>of</strong> any convictions on their application form <strong>and</strong> are expected to disclose such<br />

information at the appointment interview.<br />

This post allows substantial access to children, c<strong>and</strong>idates are required to comply with Academy<br />

procedures in relation to CRB checks. If c<strong>and</strong>idates are successful in their application prior to taking up<br />

post, they will be required to give written permission to the Academy to ascertain details from the ISA<br />

(Independent Safeguarding Authority) regarding any convictions against them <strong>and</strong>, as appropriate the<br />

nature <strong>of</strong> such convictions.<br />
