INTERNATIONAL GEOGRAPHY OLYMPIAD, GEOFEST-2012<br />

International Geography Olympiad, GEOFEST - 2012<br />

Organized by CMS Mahanagar Campus III (8 to 11 September 2012)<br />

Geofest International' and National Geography Olympiad 2012 organized by CMS,<br />

Mahanagar III, were held from 8 to 11 September at CMS Kanpur Road auditorium.<br />

Around 500 young geographers, teachers and renowned geography experts from<br />

Mauritius, Nepal and various states of India participating in this mega event voiced<br />

their concern to keep the earth clean and green and also to conserve natural<br />

resources. Different interesting competitions including Create Your Taste, Geotoon,<br />

Geotech, Geotalk, Voice & Vision, Model Display, Quiz competition etc. Through their<br />

participation in these competitions the students conveyed the message that we must<br />

all join hands in protecting earth from pollution and contamination.<br />

The 4-day event was formally inaugurated by the Chief Guest, Mr Ram Govind<br />

Chowdhary, Minister for Basic Education, UP, by lighting the lamp of learning followed<br />

by a feast of cultural items by CMS students in honour of the participants from India<br />

and abroad on 8 September 2012. During the next three days, over 500 students from<br />

Mauritius, Nepal and several states of India contested for various competitions<br />

imparting the message of environment protection. Geofest International-2012 came<br />

to a conclusion with a grand closing ceremony held on 11 September. On this occasion,<br />

the Chief Guest, Mr Krishan Gupta, Managing Director & Global CEO, Organic India,<br />

<strong>Lucknow</strong> honoured the prize winners with shields, medals and certificates amidst a<br />

the viewers. The Overall Championship of Geofest International-2012 in senior<br />

category went to St. Mark's Senior Secondary Public <strong>School</strong>, Janakpuri, New Delhi<br />

whereas the junior category championship was bagged by Sunbeam <strong>School</strong>,<br />

Lahartara, Varanasi.<br />

CISV Mini Camp organised by CMS Chowk<br />

CMS Chowk campus organized a 2-day Children's International Summer Village<br />

(CISV) Mini-Camp at CMS Kanpur Road which concluded with a grand 'CISV National<br />

Presentation' function held on 29<br />

August. On this occasion, students<br />

dressed up in colourful traditional<br />

attires of various countries of the<br />

world and gave the audience the feel<br />

of a happy global family. The camp<br />

aimed at instilling feelings of global<br />

unity and brotherhood in young<br />
