INTERNATIONAL MACFAIR and COFAS- 2012 Around 500 budding scientists from Nepal and various states of India gathered at CMS Kanpur Road auditorium for four days to test their talent in various contests including Maths Quiz, Half-A-Minute, Elocution, Social Window, Choreography, Science Model Display, Green Teen Quiz, Twin-Quinturdles, Mac Bug etc held at the 10th International Maths, Sience and Computer Fair, Macfair International organised by CMS Mahanagar Campus II from 31 August to 3 September 2012. The four day event was formally inaugurated by the Chief Guest Mr Shiv Pal Singh Yadav, Minister, PWD, U.P. by lighting the lamp of learning amidst a colourful educational-cultural ceremony organised in honour of the participating teams from India and abroad. Exciting competitions held over the next three days brought forth the all round abilities of the students of various schools and colleges of India and abroad through quizzes, debates, model display, multimedia presentation and elocution contests besides creating a feeling of world unity, love and brotherhood. Macfair International-2012 concluded on 3 September in a grand fashion amidst colourful educational-cultural items at CMS Kanpur Road auditorium. Renowned educationist and scientist from the UK, Dr. Roger David Kingdon, inaugurated the closing ceremony formally by lighting the lamp of learning. On this occasion, winners of various schools and colleges of India and abroad were awarded and honoured with OCTOBER 2012 (4) International Maths and Computer Fair, MACFAIR - 2012 Organized by CMS Mahanagar Campus II (31 August to 03 September 2012) Twin Quinturdles contest revealed a plethora of talents New ideas sprung up in science model making Written round of the Environment Quiz Mr Harmeet Daman conducting Green Teen Quiz The four-day International Computer Olympiad 'Cofas-2012' organized by CMS Station Road campus was magnificently inaugurated on 15 September by the Chief Guest, H.E. Mr B L Joshi, Governor of UP at CMS Kanpur Road auditorium. Minister for Social Welfare, UP, Mr Awadhesh Prasad added to the dignity of ceremony by presiding over the inaugural function. The participating teams of Cofas-2012 arrived from Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bangladesh, Jordan and various states of India. They introduced themselves in style amidst scintillating educational-cultural items presented by CMS students. The presence of the participating teams from India and abroad made CMS Kanpur Road auditorium look like a cyber village and the combination of diverse culture, tradition, language, scientific outlook and thinking promoted the concept of World Unity, World Peace. Competitions held over the next three days included Webtek, Debate, Math.com, Brainz, Turncoat, Softek, Computer Wizard, E-Collage, Computer Quiz, Costek and FlashTek etc, each providing the opportunity to the budding scientists from different countries to indulge in healthy competition and enhancing their knowledge besides testing their knowledge of computers, science and mathematics. The event was also a great opportunity for the participants to learn about various cultures through mutual interaction. INTERNATIONAL GEOGRAPHY OLYMPIAD, GEOFEST-2012 International Geography Olympiad, GEOFEST - 2012 Organized by CMS Mahanagar Campus III (8 to 11 September 2012) Geofest International' and National Geography Olympiad 2012 organized by CMS, Mahanagar III, were held from 8 to 11 September at CMS Kanpur Road auditorium. Around 500 young geographers, teachers and renowned geography experts from Mauritius, Nepal and various states of India participating in this mega event voiced their concern to keep the earth clean and green and also to conserve natural resources. Different interesting competitions including Create Your Taste, Geotoon, Geotech, Geotalk, Voice & Vision, Model Display, Quiz competition etc. Through their participation in these competitions the students conveyed the message that we must all join hands in protecting earth from pollution and contamination. The 4-day event was formally inaugurated by the Chief Guest, Mr Ram Govind Chowdhary, Minister for Basic Education, UP, by lighting the lamp of learning followed by a feast of cultural items by CMS students in honour of the participants from India and abroad on 8 September 2012. During the next three days, over 500 students from Mauritius, Nepal and several states of India contested for various competitions imparting the message of environment protection. Geofest International-2012 came to a conclusion with a grand closing ceremony held on 11 September. CMS Champs win Derek’s Championship A 4-member team of CMS Gomti Nagar Campus I won the championship at Derek's Faster Smarter Better Challenge 2012, an inter-school quiz contest.CMS winning team comprised Avishek Vikram, Rajat, Lakshya and Manan. This famous quiz contest was organized under the joint aegis of tele communication company Vodafone and renowned Quizmaster Derek O' Brien in which 22 student teams from various reputed schools of Lucknow participated. Two students of CMS Anand Nagar Campus won prizes in the Info Wizards Competition organized by Cathedral Senior Secondary School, Lucknow. While Shresth Pal of Class VII A won the first prize in online presentation, Udhav Mishra of Class V A won the second prize in online painting contest. Info Wizards Champions The Brainy Kids CMS Gomti Nagar students won prizes in inter-school poster-making, slogan writing and quiz competitions organized under the Brain Awareness Program jointly organised by the Indian Institute of Technological Research (IITR) and National Brain Research Centre. The prize winners were Dhananjay Joshi and Dhruv Tripathi of Class VII in Quiz contest; Utkarsh Tiwari of Class VII in Slogan Writing Contest and Ramish Abbas of Class VII in Poster Making Contest. CISV Mini Camp organised by CMS Chowk CMS Chowk campus organized a 2-day Children's International Summer Village (CISV) Mini-Camp at CMS Kanpur Road which concluded with a grand 'CISV National Presentation' function held on 29 August. On this occasion, students dressed up in colourful traditional attires of various countries of the world and gave the audience the feel of a happy global family.
