DAY 2 – DISCOVER

(HALF DAY CITY TOUR)
MUSCAT, THE FASCINATING ING CAPITAL. The tour starts from your hotel to SULTAN
QABOOS GRAND MOSQUE. Visit the mosque, the largest Mosque in Muscat!
From here you will be taken on a scenic tour taking in the Ministries, Embassies, Qurum Park
Beach and on to Muttrah Corniche, with a stop at the recently opened BAIT AL BARANDA
museum.
We then continue onto the old AL DHALAM SOUK, Oman’s largest indoor market. At the Souk, built in
traditional style, you will find exquisite silver jewellery, frankincense, intricately hand-made Khanjars
(daggers) and other handicrafts. Your guide will also show you the local Omani sweet Halwa from one of
the shops within.
The tour continues east along the Corniche to OLD MUSCAT. Here you will see His Majesty Sultan
Qaboos’ Al Alam Palace protected in the bay by the famous twin forts of Jalali & Mirani, rebuilt by the
Portuguese around 1558. Passing through the fishing villages of Sidab and Haramel
you are taken along the scenic coastal route.

Afternoon at leisure at the hotel.

DAY 3 – OPTIONAL

CULTURE DAY: NIZWA
& ITS FORTS (OMR 20 per person)
Forts are Oman's most striking cultural landmarks. It is estimated that there are over 500 forts,
castles and towers in Oman and our visit today will include a few of them which are more remarkable
& striking! We will first go to NIZWA. The city was once the capital of Oman and retains its charm as
an enduring reminder of traditional Oman. There we visit the 17th century round tower fort and the
bustling souk known for its silver and copper handicrafts famous for its artistic crafting. We move on
to BAHLA famous for its handmade pottery. Bahla is listed in UNESCOS world
heritage sites, however the fort here is now under renovation and
is not open to public. We continue to JABREEN fort which is
perhaps the finest of Omani castles. The castle has dungeons,
passages, rooms and ceilings decorated with fine carvings &
paintings. LUNCH EN ROUTE. Return to Muscat in the afternoon.
ADVENTURE DAY: WAHIBA DESERT & WADI
BANI
KHALID OASIS (OMR 45 per person)
Running south from the Eastern Hajjar Mountains to Arabian Sea, the WAHIBA SANDS,
described as a sea of sand, stretches almost 200 kms in length and about 100 kms in width.
The dunes rise above 100-150 meters in different shades of colour and shifting sands, is the
perfect place for both the romantic and the adventurous. There are still Bedouin families
living in this vast expanse of sands. A roller-coaster ride over the dunes would be a thrilling
fun especially for those who are first time visitors to the desert. Then we continue to WADI
BANI KHALID – a lush green valley surrounded by rugged mountains. Enjoy an incredible
view and a chance to capture the scenic beauty with your camera. Investigate the
surrounding area on foot. LUNCH EN ROUTE. Return to Muscat in the afternoon.
