Recognize the difference between summary and analysis—and understand how
and when to incorporate each into a composition
Identify a clear purpose for writing that includes analysis of at least two of the
assigned readings
Illustrate the ability to fully develop ideas through use of textual evidence that
follows the “sandwich method” of quoting discussed in class
Demonstrate logical organizational patterns that include transitions
Compose clear sentences that abide by the rules of standard English
Apply MLA format for in-text citations and include a Works Cited page
