The Curse and<br />
the Redemption<br />
Not long ago on geological clock<br />
There lived a ‘goddess’ verdant and pristine<br />
Bang came a ‘demon’ hungry and greedy<br />
And robbed her of her beauty and sheen.<br />
With water bodies choked and hills de-robed<br />
Mines extracted and earth deforested<br />
With atmosphere polluted and fossil fuels exhausted<br />
Forests squeezed and land over used<br />
The demon left her ravaged and abused.<br />
Horrific hurricanes and droughts then dogged<br />
Epidemics floods forest fires bogged<br />
Climate change threaten his existence<br />
His own grave dug he wails for assistance.<br />
His life today hangs by a thread<br />
His only saviour ‘Sustainable Progress’<br />
‘Respect for Nature’ ‘Environment Protection’<br />
