These guidelines have been produced to ensure 

that anyone and everyone who is responsible for 

commissioning, designing and publishing work 

for skycity uses the new brand in a consistent

The skycity logo 

The logo is uncluttered and contemporary, 

representative of the modern and vibrant company 

it stands for. The blue coloured type speaks about 

a settled, solid organisation while the flight graphic 

speaks of the company’s dynamism and visionary 

attributes. 

The logo should always appear in color where 

possible PANTONE ® 646 Blue and PANTONE ® 159 

Orange. When necessary the skycity logo can be 

used in Grayscale or White. The logo should not be 

reproduced in any other color other than the ones 

shown on this page.

The skycity logo must not be redrawn, scanned or 

altered in anyway, under any circumstances. 

When skycity is written as text it should always 

appear as one word and always in lowercase. 

Ensure there is enough contrast when 

reversing the logo out of a color or 

image background. 

The logo should always appear horizontally. The only 

exception to this is on flags/external vertical banners. 

Using the logo vertically on these applications ensures 

that the logo is used at large scale to maximize visibility.

Clear space and minimum size 

Clear space for the logo has been set to ensure it 

is always clearly visible and not crowded by other 

elements on the page. 

The minimum clear space is equal to the height of 

the ‘plane’ in the logo as illustrated here. Whenever 

possible the clear space should be increased. It 

must never be decreased and no other elements 

should be positioned within this space. 

A minimum size for the logo has been set to 

ensure that the logo is never too small and is always 

cleary visible. The logo must NOT be used smaller 

than 25mm wide. This is the size the logo appears 

on the business card.

The flight graphic 

The flight graphic is the key element in the 

new brand expression system, and consists 

of two parts: the swoosh and the aeroplane. 

These elements must always appear together 

but can be used creatively to add dynamism 

and a sense of fun as the examples illustrate.

‘Gateway to the World’ strapline 

‘Gateway to the World’ is the official ADAC strapline. 

The strapline can be used on its own, typographically, 

or alongside a flight graphic. 

‘Gateway to the World’ clearly positions ADAC as an 

international player in the aviation industry. It states 

our belief that both ADAC, and indeed the Emirate of 

Abu Dhabi provide businesses and consumers with 

global access and opportunity. 

The strapline can be used across a wide variety 

of marketing materials, from business cards to 

advertising as shown on this page.

Corporate typography English 

Typefaces are like voices. Some harsh, some cold. 

Others soft and warm. The font used to support the 

skycity logo is Helvetica. 

Helvetica is a sans serif font which is nice and 

easy to read and speaks in a voice that portrays a 

modern and innovative personality. 

The use of the Arial font is recommended for the 

creation of PowerPoint presentations and websites. 

Arial is a standard font found on all PC computers 

making it a safe universally accessible font. 

A wide range of weights from light to bold within 

the Helvetica family of fonts offer flexibility to 

create exciting combinations leading to more 

engaging layouts. Also the use of different weights 

is encouraged in instances where a change of 

emphasis is required. 

Avoid using black for text as this can appear too

Corporate typography Arabic 

The font used for any Arabic type is GE SS 2 this is 

in keeping with the Helvetica font and also helps to 

support the skycity logo. 

GE SS 2 Light 

The GE SS 2 font is also nice and easy to read 

and speaks in a voice that portrays a modern and 

innovative personality. 

The use of both light and bold weights will offer 

flexibility to create exciting combinations leading 

to more engaging layouts. Also the use of different 

weights is encouraged in instances where a change 

of emphasis is required.

The primary colors are PANTONE ® 646 Blue and 

PANTONE ® 159 Orange which are the logo colors. 

In addition to the logo they must be used for the 

key elements such as the stationery and should 

always be strictly adhered to. If it is not possible to 

run the primary colors as specials, then they should 

be matched as closely as possible using four color 

(CMYK) printing. 

The secondary and accent colors have been 

chosen to complement the skycity primary color 

palette and should be used across all skycity 

applications. The colors from the secondary 

and accent color palette can be use as tints 

when necessary. 

Printing ink produces different results depending 

on the stock it is printed on. For example printing 

special PANTONE ® 646 Blue on a coated stock 

will produce a bright, even color. However when 

printing the same color onto an uncoated stock the 

result will appear more as an earthy tint. 

PANTONE ® colors are part of an international 

standardised color specification system which aids 

accurate color matching.

Use of imagery 

Imagery should be impactful and where possible 

use pictures which focus on people. The 

combination of large people pictures and smaller 

descriptive pictures will help us to tell the skycity 

story and bring the brand to life. 

If photography is to be used in a publication or 

presentation, it is preferable to commission it either 

from a photo library or a photographer, rather than 

rely on existing imagery which may lack relevance 

and the quality we strive to maintain. 

When using photography it is important to take 

into consideration certain points. Namely: does 

the image say anything to the viewer as opposed 

to simply being background wallpaper, does 

the subject matter give a positive image of the 

company, and is it interesting If not, why not 

The photographs shown on this page represent 

good examples and appropriate images for use in 

skycity materials. The subject matter is relevant, 

gives us good visual information and are colourful. 

Always make sure you have permission before 

using any images. Please contact the Brand Team 

to obtain a copy of the ‘Release and Authorisation 

for use of Photography’ form, should you require it.

The patterned strip 

This unique patterned strip has been created 

especially for ADAC and should be used across 

all materials to help reinforce the ADAC brand. 

The pattern must never be redrawn or altered in 

anyway. However the colors within the patterned 

strip can change depending on which ADAC 

company materials it is being used on.

The typeface used is Arial, upper and lower case. The type size is 10pt with 14pt line spacing (10/14pt) 

throughout, with a left margin of 18mm and right margin of 20mm. The date should fall 87mm from the top of 

the page, with the headline set at 10pt Bold two spaces below. The first line of the press release falls on the 

second line down from the headline.

Headings 

Main headings should be typed in Arial Bold, upper case, whilst sub-headings should be typed in Arial Bold, 

upper and lower case. The main text should then begin on the next line. 

Paragraphs should not be indented and should be separated by one line space. Use a single space after full 

stops. As a general rule, punctuation should be kept to the minimum required to produce good reading. 

The signatory’s name should be typed in Arial Bold, upper and lower case, with contact details on the next 

line in Arial Regular. There should be a margin at the bottom of the page of at least 35mm.

There is no fixed position for the flight graphic across a double page spread. The flight graphic can move 

up and down giving flexibility to create alternative layouts throughout the brochure. However the section of

Our presentations should always be of the 

highest standard. It is vital that they are 

visually consistent with the core elements 

of the brand. 

Always respect the presentation template design 

when creating a new presentation. Try not to 

place too many words onto a single slide. Avoid 

the use of low quality or inappropriate images 

or illustrations. 

There are two alternative title slide 

templates. One which uses the company 

logo only and the other which uses an image.
