Iam fortunate to have been through
more than 30 spring seasons in the
turf-management business, and no two
have been alike. There is no such thing
as a normal season! Joe Rimelspach’s recent
mention of the mysterious “white turf
syndrome” is an example of how we must
stay on top of new issues to find causes
and solutions.
That is why this Foundation exists. We
are here to support research on root causes
and solutions to our industry’s challenges.
OTF trustees continue to work to improve
our ability to provide for such efforts. We
are on our way to having a successful year
as an organization, likely ending the year
in a significantly better position financially
than years gone by.
Recently, we have decided to organize a
focus group comprised of our members and
trustees to determine if we are meeting the
needs of our members and our industry. We
will be analyzing our mission and programs
and setting a course of action to ensure that
we are adapting to the ever-changing needs
of the industry. If you have any comments,
please do not hesitate to contact us with
your thoughts.
As you will notice, this edition serves
as our membership directory. Thank you
for supporting this wonderful industry as a
member of the Ohio Turfgrass Foundation.
We ask that you take note of our corporate
partners listed in this directory and at our
events, as these organizations make a significant
investment in our Foundation. We
hope that you will consider supporting them
just as they support the industry.
While membership dues and event fees
play a significant role in the Foundation’s
annual revenue, booth rentals, event sponsorships
and other corporate partnerships are
crucial to OTF’s well-being. Again, please
take note of these partners, and whether
at the OTF Golf Outing, Field Day, OTF
Show or even if it’s just answering their call,
thank them for creating opportunities for
professionals of today and those of the future.
I hope to see many of you on September
30th at Moraine Country Club in Dayton
for the Scholarship Golf Outing. Thanks to
