guidelines for wr<strong>it</strong>ing a college research paper in accordance w<strong>it</strong>h the Public<strong>at</strong>ion Manual of the<br />
American Psychological Associ<strong>at</strong>ion. Th<strong>is</strong> brief guide <strong>is</strong> a supplement to the Public<strong>at</strong>ion<br />
Manual of the American Psychological Associ<strong>at</strong>ion (6 th Ed<strong>it</strong>ion,) not a subst<strong>it</strong>ute.<br />
Effective Fall 2009, <strong>Franklin</strong> Univers<strong>it</strong>y cre<strong>at</strong>ed guidelines th<strong>at</strong> aim to simplify <strong>and</strong><br />
clarify elements of APA style for use in research-oriented assignments. Th<strong>is</strong> guide will help<br />
students underst<strong>and</strong> <strong>and</strong> apply APA st<strong>and</strong>ards in accordance w<strong>it</strong>h <strong>Franklin</strong> Univers<strong>it</strong>y’s<br />
minimum APA st<strong>and</strong>ards. Certain d<strong>is</strong>ciplines or courses may require add<strong>it</strong>ional st<strong>and</strong>ards beyond<br />
APA. Students should consult their instructor or course syllabus for inform<strong>at</strong>ion on requirements<br />
for add<strong>it</strong>ional st<strong>and</strong>ards for their course or specific d<strong>is</strong>cipline. Students should always defer to<br />
the styl<strong>is</strong>tic <strong>and</strong> form<strong>at</strong>ting guidance of course instructor should questions ar<strong>is</strong>e.<br />
The Student Learning Center has a variety of resources to help students improve their<br />
wr<strong>it</strong>ing, including: tutoring, workshops <strong>and</strong> online resources. Wr<strong>it</strong>ing tutors are available for<br />
