WORK EXPERIENCE<br />
Acquired training on various aspects of tissue culture and conservation techniques<br />
at Delhi <strong>University</strong> (India) and Reading <strong>University</strong> (U.K.). Joined Botanical Survey of<br />
India in 1990 and since then I have been posted at Arunachal Field Station, BSI<br />
(Itanagar) (1990-1991), Eastern Circle, BSI, Shillong (1991-1992), Reading Universsity,<br />
U.K. for Ph.D. study (1992-1996), Eastern Circle, BSI, Shillong (1996-2008) and BSI,<br />
Arunachal Pradesh Regional Centre, Itanagar (2008- to till date). I have carried out<br />
successfully some projects and also implementing currently departmental and nondepartmental<br />
funded projects as given below:<br />
COMPLETED PROJECTS:<br />
1. Population studies of Paphiopedilum spp. found in N.E. India and its<br />
natural habitats (Departmental Project).<br />
2. Ex situ conservation of rare, threatened and endangerred plant species of<br />
north eatern India (Departmental project).<br />
3. “Multiplication of Iris bakeri, Panax assamicus and Gaultheria<br />
fragrantissima using tissue culture and allied techniques funded by DBT,<br />
Govt. of India, New Delhi (Duration: 4 yrs; Total cost: Rs. 10,73,380)<br />
4. Flora of Dzuko valley and surrounding hills at the border of Nagaland and<br />
Manipur.<br />
5. Multiplication and ex situ conservation of Rhododendrons species of north<br />
east India funded by DBT, Got. of India (3 yrs project & total cost Rs.43<br />
lakhs).

6. Ericaceae of Arunachal Pradesh<br />
ONGOING PROJECTS:<br />
1. Preventing extinction and improving conservation status of threatened plants through<br />
application of biotechnological tools- DBT-funded project for 5 years (2012-2017).<br />
2. Preparation of Flora of Meghalaya Check list – Departmental project<br />
3. Micro-propagation of RET Plants of Northeast India – Departmental project<br />
4. Collaborating Project with North Eastern Space Application Centre (NESAC), Umiam, Meghalaya<br />
Under ex situ conservation program, seed/embryo culture of 22 spp. and 2 hybrids<br />
of orchids, viz. Arundina graminfolia, Bulbophyllum rothschildianum, Cymbidium<br />
devonianum, C. mastersii, C. aloifolium, C. tracyanum, C. longiflorum, Dendrobium<br />
moschatum, D. fimbriatum var. occulatum, D. nobile, D. chrysotoxum, D. primulinum, D.<br />
densifolium, Eria coronaria, Holcoglossum ameasianum, Hygrochilus parishii,<br />
Paphiopedilum fairriaenum, P. insigne, P. spicerianum, P. villosum, Renanthera<br />
imschootiana and Vanda coerulea were successfully multiplied. Over 1000 seedlings of<br />
Vanda coerulea, Dendrobium moschatum, D. nobile, D. primulinum, Hygrochilus<br />
parishii, Paphiopedilum fairrieanum, P. insigne, P. spicerianum, P. villosum were<br />
successfully transplanted from Lab to land. In vitro and in vivo seed germination of<br />
Nepenthes khasiana successfully carried out. Tissue culture using nodal explants of N.<br />
khasiana and Rhododendron formosum successfully carried out and successfully<br />
transferred from Lab to land.<br />
FIELD EXPERIENCE<br />
Undertaken more than 20 plant exploration tours to Arunachal Pradesh (Lohit, Anjaw,<br />
West Kameng, Tawang, Lower Subansiri, Upper Subansiri, West Siang, Papum Pare,<br />
Lower Dibang valley districts); Manipur (Dziikou Valley and its surrounding hills,<br />
Manipur valley, Senapati district, Siroi hills, Ngairei & Ngaino hills, Ukhrul district,<br />
Manipur); Meghalaya (Garo Hills, Mawsynram, Nonhron, Umtangam, Cherrapunji, etc);<br />
Mizoram (Lunglei, Sairep, Blue Mt., Sangao, etc.), Nagaland (Saramati Peak and<br />
surrounding hills, Japfii Mt., Paona Peat and surrounding hills, Dziilaki reserve forests,<br />
Dzukou valley, etc.) and Sikkim. Over 3000 field numbers of plant specimens were<br />
collected for herbarium and over 2000 live plants of which many rare, endangered and<br />
economic plants were collected and introduced in Experimental Botanic Garden, Umiam<br />
(Barapani) and National Orchidarium, Shillong, BSI, Eastern Circle, Shillong.<br />
